Blut Aus Nord
I don't know if there has already been threads posted about this band since I don't come here, but I figured this place was better than any to find out about this band.
I was just wondering what other people (who own an album or who have heard a whole song!) thought about them. I want to get their latest record, but I've read some mixed reviews. From what I've heard they are pretty grim and cold. I'm imagining something along the lines of early Burzum with maybe some better production. So I am looking for a comparison, basically. I have "Tentacles of Horror" by Leviathan and I LOVE that record. I'm also a fan of Burzum, so....What do you think?

Haha. Nah, but thanks for the sentiment. I'm a busy guy. But I figured you guys here are metal masters of the world, so it's a good guess I could find out about this band. Aprecciate the welcome.

Fathers of the Icy Age from them was a very good album (actually only album which I have heard from them). Cold breezing and very hypnotic stuff with a lot of influences from Burzum, but not any boring copying.
I think that Vindsval's own project The Eye goes even better, same era material but better melodies and without any unnecessary embellishments.

Cool. Is the band reminiscent to anybody, would you say? You say it's pretty dark. Does that mean the guitar work (and everything for that matter) is pretty minimilistic? Are there any keyboards? This is the album I'm looking to get, so that's where the questions come from.

sorry man i missed that post
when i say dark, i mean the whole albums dark. there are some weird background drones and stuff. the guitar work is really really unique. either multi layered waves of chords or little riffs harmonized at bad intervals so it sounds really "wrong". the vocals are a little fake in spots and the drum machine does get slightly annoying...but the whole album has a real ambience to it. its not dark the black metal sense of burzum or emperor, its more evil and minimilastic
there are some keyboards i think, but the whole album kind of washes over you like a cold wave or something.... you wont really remember the songs
