I would probably eventually switch out the pickups for some real duncans thoug. The guy selling it lives pretty far away and I don't want to drive the whole way there just to find out that this guitar is shit. He want's about $450 for it used but in good condition. Could maybe get it down to $420-ish. That's still pretty cheap here. I've heard good things about jackson necks...
Is it really that big of a deal not to have a tone knob? can't you just tweak the amp/pedal instead? I want to get somewhat a children of bodom/pantera kind of tone. I know that the amp has more to do with that but still.

I did a search and found one good thread but it still didn't have that much information.

The guitar I currently have is a cheap Tanglewood strat type guitar and I'm getting really sick of it.

i use to have an jackson warrior from the x series with duncan design pickups.

its sound pretty good in my opinnion, jacksons have this like karakteristic metal/rock sound and the tremolo is oke in my opinion but u cant compare it to the real floyds ofcause, only thing about it is that its the cheapest model so they cut the back on some things, like it might be that if u pull up on strings then end up dead cuz they hit the next fret, atleast thats what mine had.
so u might just think it over a little.

I'm buing my first electric guitar (tired of the old accustic one...) I can get an used Ibanez RG370DX or a new ESP Ltd F-50 for the same price, what is the better guitar? I've also considered a Jackson, any suggestions?

ive had jacksons and ibanez and they are both nice guitars, but i chose the jacksonin the end cus it has a mmore metal/rock karakteristic sound if u see what i mean

Yes, I do, but it is more expencive. I'm at a low budget.. I've read that the esp lts's are shit, is it so? How would tou compare it to the ibanez?

You can'tgo wrong with an RG550/570, If you're on a limited budget, I've seen a lot go on ebay for around £200

$450 is a very good price for that guitar. I still play mine frequently even though it is getting a bit old - the pickups it has are already fine and I can get a Pantera sound out of mine very easily.

I own a 370dx. You cheap fuck, don't buy one used. The F-50 sucks (majorly) Just spend the money on a new 370dx.

just check how its set now, if its okee dont touch it
some new strings shouldnt change the rod that much so
