Some help please
Yeah, well, I love music like Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom, stuff like that, but I find their numbers few, I don't want to listen to a few bands until I can't stand their music anymore, anybody know some good black metal bands with violins and stuff like that, with wicked fast drums and guitar? Come on, help out a fellow metalhead.

point number 1 : NO self-respecting black metal band uses violins and keyboards and stuff like that.
point number 2: theres no need for a point number 2.
still if you want to check out good black metal bands...try using the search button.

Here's a proven mathematical equation- (Dimmu Borgir + Children of Bodom) x 1,000,000 = a band that still eats Ihsahn's shit. Emperor rules. Check out Emperor, you will like them.

Why? Synths and in some cases even violins add very much atmosphere to Black Metal music, and atmosphere is one of the main elements that make Black Metal 'good'.
Just listen to old Graveland, their music is very raw and simple Black Metal, but those simple synth parts that they use, add very much of epic and cold atmosphere to the music, and the music wouldn't be as good if they wouldn't use those synths.
Also there are bands like Emperor, Nokturnal Mortum and Summoning, whose music is very synth dominating and without synths they would even suck (maybe not really on Emperor's case, but Summoning?).
Violins, if they are used in correct places in the music, can add some very nebulous and ethereally sad atmosphere to the music. Like on Paysage d'Hiver's demo "Paysage d'Hiver" (esp. song Welt Aus Eis).
Though, it is true that if one uses synths in Black Metal, they must be used well and with talents, otherwise they can eventually make the music somewhat 'gaudy' which can ruin the atmosphere.

Exactly, I concur to the fullest. Especially about the "being used well" in the other part of his statement. Over use, being placed wrong, or just bad use only can turn the best black metal into complete and utter garbage.

i don't think they compare to cradle of filth, and then, anorexia nervosa are the undisputed absolute kings of symphonic black metal, there is no doubt about it.
