That's because it's far easier for people to make baseless accusations than it is to bother to learn about something to see if they are even remotely correct... It all comes down to a basic principle, something I'm sure you've come to terms with by now- most people are immature, ignorant, and thoroughly moronic. As I've said before, it doesn't make it less irritating, but... well, come to think of it, it doesn't really have any benefits that I can think of at the moment. It's just the way things are.
