emg-hz
I received a gift at work and it was a emg hz, so my questions is how good is it? metal whise how good are the harmonics and how good is the distortion on it.
i use a fake les paul called arita LOL and a metal zone with a half stack. I want to put in but i dont want to experiment on my others! Can someone please help me with this....

Casually, I think that is the only EMG that is passive. I had one of this in my guitar: cRAp.I have it, if you want it tell me.hehehheh

they're so so, could be worse, but probably not to big of an improvement... the only passive emg's i like are the h4s.

I bet you though a cat dying is probably the most wretched sound you have ever heard. well now that you got emg-hz's youll probably change your mind.
emghz are the absolute worst pickups ever made, stock pickups are better in my opinion.

well thanks for all the input,
now I know how they are I will just take them back were ever my friend bought them and get soemthing else LOL I just did not want to install it on one of my other guitars thats why i have a crappy one to experiment on LOL I'll just stick on getting the zack wylde ones.

i wouldnt even go near that description...
you obvisouly need to play more guitars and more pickups... not all "stock pickups" are the same einstein.

well it wasnt meant to be taken completely serious, "einstein". but all stock pickups ive used have been far superior than emg-hz.

In my personal experience even a B.C. Rich BDSM stock humbucker is superior to an EMG HZ.
Which is very sad.
