" Remembering December 27th "
A very dear friend who has been a mentor to me was performing a stage concert with his partner 4 years ago and his friend died on stage. Through my friend's songs him and from conversations about him I grew to feel like I knew him, too. I just can't imagine it happening. I'm not out to get comments or anything like that unless you want to. I offered this at my home forum and thought I'd let you all read it, too. I got a thank you from my friend. I'm glad he got to read it. This is for "Norm" Normington and for Chris.
" Remembering December 27th "
Lighting up the stage with your presense
Fingers nibbley playing all the notes
Heart and soul tightened as each string is tuned
Voice turning heads and changing minds
Lovers becoming more loving
Thrill seekers hanging on the edge of words
Passion and laughter felt both on and off the stage
I can almost see it all
Life cut short and hard to fathom
Why do things happen that way sometimes
Hard hit and left to wander
Not caring what happens for a long while
Out of pain, one day, a new strength is borne
New realisation of a God-given gift
Angels bringing people together
Bringing renewed life to song
Friend and mentor, he was
I felt that sometimes I knew him, too
Looking down, proud and satisfied
Happy that he's kept alive within you
Dreams live and are passed along
On this day memories don't fade
Dreams live and are passed along
On this day memories won't ever fade
