Death Metal Bands/Albums Recommendations

Well i love morbid angel, got 4 of their albums, but i dont want them to be the only death metal band that i listen to. This genre seems to be my favorite. Any suggestions on bands/albums?

Traditional Death Metal:
Obituary - Slowly We Rot and Cause of Death
Malevolent Creation - Best of...
Vital Remains - Dawn of the Apocalpse
Decapitated - Nihility
Deeds of Flesh - Path of the Weakening

Progressive and Melodic Death:
Opeth - All. Bar-None. All.
October Tide - Grey Dawn
Amorphis - Elegy
Death - Every album. Start out with "Symbolic."

That should get you on your way. If you need any more, stick around. I'm sure everyone else will give you some essential stuff. Or just PM me.

Pen and paper at the ready? Good. I'll name one album that you might like by each band that i suggest.

Nile - In Thier Darkened Shrines (technical brutal death)
Cryptopsy - And Then You'll Beg (technical brutal death)
Suffocation - Effigy Of The Forgotten (technical brutal death)

Those three are essential and I'd buy these first, but you might also want to check out:

Necrophagist - Epitaph (technical death)
Carcass - Heartwork (melodic death)
Psycroptic - The Sceptre Of The Ancients (technical death)
Aborted - Gormageddon (gore in the vein of early Carcass)
Akercocke - Chronozon (blackened death)
Immolation - Unholy Cult (labels escape me)
Anata - Under A Stone With No Inscription (technical death)
Severed Saviour - Brutality Is Law (technical brutal death influenced by Suffocation)
Spawn Of Possession - Cabinet (technical death)

Considering you like Morbid Angel, you might want to try out other old school death bands:

Death - Scream Bloody Gore
Obituary - Slowly We Rot
Deicide - Deicide
Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding

There are a whole host of bands that others will be able to recommend, too.

You slander my fellow Scousers? You shall die like the infidel you are! Preferably slow and torturous. With Celine Dion playing in the background.

Insomnium, they are in the best death metal band I've ever heard. Children Of Bodom and At The Gates are some of my favourite death metal bands also.

People that enjoy Pre-Necroticism Carcass will always be a mystery to me. That album, and most after, especially Heartwork are classic death/grind records.

I guess the people that like the early Carcass are the same people that enjoy alot of these current schizo bands like Pig Destroyer.

Black Dahlia Murder

Into Eternity, just because nobody mentioned them. God damn, it is the best thing to ever come out of Canada. They are from Saskatchewan too, the first good band that hasn't come from Eastern Canada

haha

Oh and Death Stuff hmmm

Amon Amarth
Carcass - Necroticism cd and up
Decapitated
Dimension Zero - Silent Night Fever cd (something about that cd i love although it sounds repetative at first)
Immolation
Kataklysm
Nile
The Black Dahlia Murder
maybe Vehemence (reminds me of Amon Amarth with guitars and vocals)

There are a ton more I'm sure but that is all I an think of or what not. Unique sound is key which I know is pretty obvious but a lot of death metal bands sound a lot the same... Enjoy

OPETH. best band you will ever hear. melodic death/progessive metal with black influence and big acoustic parts. amazing to hear.

melodic death/thrash sort of metal:

dissection
amon amarth
at the gates
the haunted - one kill wonder is basically melodeath
in flames
dark tranquillity
entombed
arch enemy
dawn
the crown
soilwork

technical death metal:

cryptopsy
nile
suffocation
devolved
decapitated
psycroptic
necrophagist

brutal death metal (probably more your thing, so you claim

cannibal corpse
abramelin (good luck finding them though)
brujeria
gorgasm
krisiun
dying fetus
engorged
the berzerker (TB owns you, dissection)
exhumed
mortician (quite simplistic, as many people hate them as do love them, i'm a lover)
resurrected
damaged - the only hardcore i can stand, loads of death metal influence.
blood duster
vader

that's all i can think of, i hope that sets you in the right direction

Since we're on the subject of death metal, how's Extol? I heard they're pretty good death metal.
