Weird Question regarding EMG pickups

Just wondering if anybody can give me any information. I bought a Jackson DKMG about 2 years ago, and now I finally was able to buy some real EMGs to replace the stocked EMG-HZ pickups. Those hz pickups that the guitar came with took a 9 volt battery, so I do not understand why I keep reading around that hzs are passive, I thought by definition an active pickup is one that takes a battery. My question is, however, can I just simply snap the new EMGs I bought into the guitar and not have to rewire the whole system and do all that soldering? What makes me suspicious is that the clips that are in the guitar are a little bigger than the clips that came with the new EMGs. They clip into the new EMGs, but a couple pin holes are left. The clips however fit the perfectly into the hzs leaving no pin holes behind. Does anybody know anything regarding this?

The battery that was in your guitar was probably for an EMG Afterburner system.

You need to rewire most of the stuff. Your new pickups are 2 wire pups, while your HZs were 4 wire pups. And the battery needs to be connected differently.

If you have soldering experience, I say go for it. If you don't, talk to someone who does, or find someone who'll do it for you.

Mods, delete this (IMO), he made the same thread in the gear section, where it's meant to be.

Moving it would be a bit not good though, since he already has another thread almost exactly like this in the gear forum.
But I'm not pissed at all. I actually didn't realise his mistake until I saw the thread in Gear.

Sorry for the confusion

Sorry for the confusion. I realized that it was in the wrong place after I had posted it--that's why I then posted something almost identical in the gear section. I want to thank you all. I'm going to post the rest of this reply in the gear "thread" for you all to read, so nobody has to worry about this thread anymore to give and read feedback. Thanks all.
