My purchases.
I went to the CD store today armed with some Christmas money and a gift card. I got King Diamond "Abigail/Fatal Portrait", Emperor "Anthems To the Welkin At Dusk", The Flower Kings "Adam and Eve", and Ayreon "The Human Equation". Whatchya'll think? I've only listened to Abigail and half of Welkin so far. Abigail is truely amazing. Got to be the highest pitch vocals I've ever heard. The Emperor was nice and atmospheric as well, but I still like their later stuff better. Prometheus is their favorite of mine, but that's because I'm a progressive metal nut. I'm waiting until I can listen to the other two without distractions. The Flower Kings album has Pain of Salvation genius Daniel Gildenlow as a full time member, so I'm really looking forward to that one. And the Ayreon has a plethora of awesome people on it. Score.

I recently bought the Ayreon CD. Now, I am not used to CDs such as this (as you can see in my sig) but this one was f*cking amazing. My suggestion is read the lyrics (because it is practically a play) and then listen to the whole thing. The music is unbelievable, I am amazed at the fact that it all came from one guy. The main reason I bought it was because it sounded interesting (and the singer from Opeth was in it). I bought it about 2 weeks ago and have probably listened to the complete thing (both CDs) about 10 times.

Those aren't really related. I haven't even listened to a couple of the cds, as I already wrote. And these purchases were strictly band related, and don't have a place in chit chat.

I can see where you're both coming from. Until I read it I was thinking recently bought thread, too, til you said you were intersted in the bands themselves. Whatever. It would get more views in ChitChat, but if you want to the discuss bands I think it should be here. No biggie.
