Hybrid Picking
Has anyone tried this insanly difficult technique?
For thoes who don't know, Hybrid Picking is when you use your pick and middle, ring, and pinky finger at the same time.
Marshall Harrison seems to have technique mastered as seen here: http://www.marshallharrison.com/fre...kanEdgeMCH1.wmv
I'm trying to get somewhere near being able to use this technique and having it sound good but it is so insanly hard.

I just use my thumb, index (polex), middle (molex), and ring (anularus)...what would be the point in using your pick...just to make it louder? I think it would be pretty awkward to use your pinky to pluck strings

Yep. Zakk Wylde does it sometime, he has quite a few articles explaining how to chicken pick with some great exercises.

If you don't use a pick its just finger picking....
I've seen the zack Wylde's stuff and in my opinion it doesnt come close to playing along to a piano score note for note, but Zack has fun with his Pentatonic scale...

I'd just fingerpick a piano score myself, but hybrid picking does have it's (very useful) applications. Nile employ it during the second riff of Execration Text and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top is famed for his hybrid style.

^^ yeah, Opeth uses much hybrid picking, so getting to know their songs and being able to play them gives you much practice and any imaginable (<-- is this written right?) way. Thanks to Opeth and other similiar bands I'm pretty advanced with the hybrid picking technique.
