what does Ypres mean? Also this band reminds me of Agalloch. The slow guitars and daemon like vocals. Cool from what I was listening to.

Black Metal? Tsk Tsk Tsk. Father, they are not black metal. They are more doom than they are black metal. Doom has acoustic guitars; black is nearly void of all such things.

BUT. They kick ass.

So what about Silencer, Macabre Omen, Velvet Cacoon, Ulver, Lurker of Chalice, Paraphrenia and Wyrd to name a few?

Two actually; Pursuit of the Sun & the Allure of the Earth, and Against the Seasons.

They have an album coming out later this year also; Woods 3- "The Deepest Roots and Darkest Blues"

+ We also expect to be including a variety of guest musicians for particular songs. More info TBA.

Both Winter and Ontario themed, the album will be 15 tracks, totalling over 60 minutes of intense black & doom in the vein of the next logical step from 2002's "Against the Seasons: Cold Winter Songs from the Dead Summer Heat".

Seth Putnam must die.

Anyways, great band. Pursuit of the Sun... is a kickass album. I love his clean vocals.

Just to clarify, it's a location in Belgium in west Flanders (Belgium North is Dutch), but it was also contested that it belonged to France.. whatever, typical french people being arrogant.

Anyway, it was the site of two massive battles: 1) in 1914 where the Germans pushed back the British Expeditionary Force into west France; 2) in 1915 whereby Canadian soldiers were the only soldiers to fight, repel, and conquer the German Army. This gave Canada its designation as the Commonwealth's shock troops (to this day! despite what you believe); thus, becoming the spearhead of every major attack following for the course of WWI until the US came in as to relieve the desperately fatigued western front.
FYI.

Aside from this, the band is definitely not black metal. They obviously possess the musical traits quickly associated with black metal; however, they're a combination of a mellowed out blackend metal act. I love these guys, and I really wish they got more promotion.
