Mayhem

all right, i don't want to attract all these "tr00 kvult NECR0" motherfuckers in here. I just heard a few Mayhem songs, and I think they're pretty good. I think Attila was the vocalist, or Dead. Can someone recommend me a good Mayhem cd? I dont want this thread to turn into a black metal war and shit.

De Mysteriis. It might take you a while to begin to like it, I know that's what happened for me.

De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is an instant classic. that album is probably in my top 10. it usually will take time to overcome Attilla's ridiculous vocals. he sounds EXACTLY like Gollem from LotR (not a fan) on that album.

btw, Maniac left the band and Attilla is back in! that's pretty good news, I hope, as I like their older stuff alot better. if I ever have a bad day, I can just pop in that album and giggle for hours. it never gets old

yesterday i found a mayhem cd, something super-rare with dead on vocals. $36.99 i couldn't afford it, and it had a "kill grishnackh" symbol on it, so i said "fuck it."

above all, mayhems quite a respectable band.

De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is their only really good album. The Deathcrush EP was terrible. Everything I've heard that came after De Mysteris is garbage, too. Atilla was the vocalist on De Mysteriis, and by far Mayhem's best vocalist. A bunch of trve nekro black metallers who've read Lords of Chaos 17 times will tell anybody who will listen that Dead was the best metal vocalist ever, but he wasn't really that good. He wasn't even Mayhem's best vocalist, nevermind best vocalist ever.

Well, some people might think so. Though that EP still revolutioned those days (black) metal world, by actually starting the second wave of black metal, and that is(/was) the main reason why Mayhem was very respected.
But yeah, De Mysteriis dom Sathanas is still the finest work of Mayhem, it has Mayhem's all time best vocalist, Attila included. Though, Attila's style of singing is very 'out from mainstream style of black metal' -themed so it can seperate listeners into two cathegories, either you hate it or either you'll love it.

although i'm not into the tr00 9r1m n3cr0 black metal, and prior to listening to mayhem, the 'blackest' i had got was with emperor, de mysteriis dom sathanas just hit me & thats all the black metal that i have really appreciated (the tr00 blah blah that is)...so i'd say de mysteriis is definitely their work you should get your hands on !!!

Oh shit, here we go...

De Mysteriis is the only one I'd recommend. But Attilla sounds like he recorded some of the vocals tracks on the fucking CAN.

And some of the newer stuff is good.

Live In Leipzig, my favorite Mayhem album. Dead (my avatar) was my favorite singer that ever was in Mayhem. He's also my 2nd favorite black metal vocalist after Gaahl from Gorgoroth. Gaahl =

Read YOUR_GOD_IS_DEAD's sig, it's mighty truthful, MetalThrashingMad is a genious. The thread is about Mayhem and only Mayhem. I wanted to avoid the "9rim tr00 necr0 kvlt black metallers" from debating on who's a better black metal vocalist.

Thanks fellas, I'll take your suggestions and get De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. Was Chimera any good? I've been to this one store by my house and there are a shitload of copies of that one.

Maniac is the vocalist on that album, that's why that have so many copies of that album. Maniac was Mayhem's first and last vocalist for a good reason, he blows.
