Raw mahogany necks?

I love the feel of a raw maple neck, but I like the sound of an instrument when it is crafted entirely of mahogany ...

Is it detrimental to mahogany wood if it is raw? Because I never see raw mahogany necks.

I'm asking because I like to personally shave the neck of every guitar I get, to customize the shape and give it the raw feel. But because there are no raw mahogany necks, I'm under the impression that I should'nt ? ...

Yes, I read about the wood-health implications of raw necks after shaving the neck on my guitar down ... I'll probably shave my next guitar and just oil it down ...
