Sleepytime Gorilla Museum
I normally wouldn't make a thread about a band like this but I'm dancing with JD and am really enjoying them. Check them out. Some very mildley metal sounds, but mostly avant-garde with some operatic touches. If your looking for something really differnet and innovated, check them out. They even make their own instruments!
Suggested songs: The donkey-headed adversary of humanity opens the discussion, bring back the apocolypse, gunday's child, phthisis, sleep is wrong etc. Anything off the " ' of natural history" is pretty good.
Hope someone else out there enjoys them!
Oh yeah: sleepytimegorillamuseum.com (I think? Google it.)

Wow! I like! They're very different from what I usually listen to.

Well, they've got a new one out so I figure this thread deserves an In Glorious Times bump.

I just gave it a run last night for the first time. Sounds promising.

I've been listening to this solid for a few days. Thank fuck these guys are alive, <tangent> and putting the spear into the continuous and retarded flood of traditional metal... ask yourself, long-haired Dragon faggots of the world, does the world need another fucking power metal band???</tangent>
A lot of people I know who think Bungle is pretentious and silly get this stuff. That's striking a damn fine balance, to my mind.

I've never heard anything like them. So much more better than Therion but so similar.

I just saw these guys live. Their new album "In Glorious Times" (oops. Thanks Drako) is pretty cool, but I think " of Natural History" is their best. AMBGATION!!!!

The new album is called "In Glorious Times". "Grand Opening and Closing" has the song "Ambugation", not "of Natural History".
I picked up this Sleepytime DVD called "The Face" last time I saw them which has seven tracks that were improvised to some guy randomly distorting his face. It is sweet.
