X2N warmness question.
Ahoy, I am thinking about getting some new pickups (X2N and PAF Pro). Anyways, I am wondering if I get these, will they detract from the warmness and fuzzyness that my pickups already have in some parts? The pickups I have now (factory ones) aren't special or anything, but I can play stuff like Sleep well with them and get that heavied, fuzzied sound with some settings on my amp and guitar de-tuned. I heard the X2N sounds a little tinny and kind of cold. Anyways, the main question here is, if I get these two new pickups, when playing stoner rock stuff, will it not sound as good, as in the warmness and full feel of it? Thanks.

hmmm... the X2N is a REALLY hot pickup... I dunno, it would work if you're using a marshall JCM or something, those sound inherently warm to me.

My setup also, and IMO there is nothing conceivably tinny about the sound of an X2N through a high gain amp. The tone is so full it's incredibly tasty. I don't know about "stoner rock" though, does that have an inherently muddy sound? If so, I think you could muddy up the X2N tone nicely with the right amp settings and still get a good tone from the X2N. Just guessing though, since I've got a 5150, definitely not a stoner rock amp.

pretty much any amp could work as a stoner rock amps... just cut the highs and dime the gain.

stoner metal tone isnt exactly special or hard to get... a 5150 can easily do the muffy stoner chunk.
tinny and cold are not exactly how i'd describe the x2n either.. i think they'd do it wonderfully.

Thanks a ton for the info guys. I am probably going to get these pickups now. I know this question is different from the topic, but (I don't want to start a new threat), do you think if got these used, I would be risking it and might end up with a lemon? Thanks again.
