Peavey Bandit?
Hey,
Anyone know anything of this combo? It's a 80W/100W 1x12 combo, 2 channels with independent EQ's blahblahblah.
Heard some good shit on HarmCent and Guitar Review...
http://www.peavey.com/products/shop.../4/transtub.cfm
Anyway I'd get it quite cheap from an importer, but I haven't exactly found it anywhere, so I can't test it myself for some time. Any comments, is it worth digging into, or should I just forget it? It would mainly be a practice amp in my room, nothing major (replacing a GX15R) Maybe some small gigs. Neat distortion is what I'd like, cleans don't matter too much. Also I wouldn't like to use any pedals...
Other model I heard of was Transformer 112... (vs. Bandit?) Comments?
Thanks!

I had a peavey bandit 112 for a while, got rid of it.
it's good for practising in your room and they're virtually unbreakable, loads of rehearsal places use them because of that...
I don't think they're super-amps or something but for home practise it's allright. I have no idea for how much they'de go for over there... you might want to consider looking for used stuff. *cough* engl straight 50 on ebay.de *cough*

I've been using one for about 3 years now, and it's awesome. Haven't played any shows with it, but i practice with my band and it's louder that my friend's 5150-2 cabinet. The distortion is great, got 2 different levels, Modern and High Gain being the best ones.
For the price and size i'd say it's one of the best out there. Of course it can't compete with your multi-thousand dollar head + stack set-ups, but it gets the job done and then some.

I'd get it for about 250€ new... (Peavey site: retail 499$)
Yeah definately I'm checking out used ones constantly, but up here there ain't lots of anything! I mean, every good used amp is like a treasure... I wish we had eBay, well we have similars, but there small...
And I'm not too confident on buying used gear outside the country, it's not like ordering from Thomann you know...

well for example,
a few months ago I found a used ORIGINAL Mars 2203 + 1960 cab for
666€ (lol)... well it sounded first like a killer deal, but then I found out that the condition was bad. it had just came back from a total repair. doesn't sound very promising... well, a 15+ year old amp, what can you expect... god, what a wreck.
the point is that we just don't have good deals/prices here. I wish we had ebay. the only stuff that's cheap around here are like MG Marshalls and shit.
well I found a Diezel VH4 (usage time: minutes) for 2500€! my gawd let's buy it

he said cab, maybe he's using another top but ofcourse a 5150 is way louder.
I had no problems with buying from ebay, I picked the stuff I bought up myself though. Coming from Finland that must be a long drive. Sending amps and shit, mm. I wouldn't trust it either, especially not tube amps. but hell if you've got a drivers licence, I drove a couple of hours for my savage too.
by the way, that isnt a bad price on that diezel man.

But thanks everyone! The Bandit doen't seem like a bad amp...
Any other amps you'd suggest? Well tube combos are kinda too expensive, no point in spending so much €€€ on a combo. And what comes to stacks, don't need one. No point in having a 120W half-stack in my own room...
So again, what I'd want is good distortions (I play a Ltd with EMGs), enough power (at least 50W). And preferably in the up-to-650$ retailprice-range (about, doesn't matter too much, just somewhere near that).
Oh yeah, and I already stated that I can't really get my hands on any good used gear, too bad
Maybe other Peaveys, H&K, Marshall, Line 6, Crate, Roland etc? But what do you think?
Thanks, this forum RULZ

maybe a cheaper tube combo? you know, the good tone is at tube amps...
ofcourse there are some allright ss amps too, H&K makes a lot of decent solid state's, I've played a bunch and they never let me down, I used one for about a year when I was just starting out years ago (in a practise room, a h&k tour reverb)
Marshall, don't even go there, their SS stuff is all shit. Line 6 are spaceships with loads of lights and effects but no tone. Roland, meh, they only have good cleans IMO, Peavey has a lot of good ss stuff, that has to be said, and at a decent price.
I don't know about Crate, I only played some of their shitty 15watters and the bv300. wasn't impressed with either of them.

of course your not..
Crates make alot of shit... ALOT, the few good amps they produce dont justify all the bullshit they've been calling amps for the past 10 years

I just found out that I'd get Randall stuff quite cheap also... Now I hear Randall makes pretty badass metal-amps. A G2-series combo might be alright. I'll also check out what's the discounts on the MTS tubecombo series...
It's just that both the Peavey and the Randall are that distant, I can't really try em out just like that. That's why I'm asking help from you guys...
What do you think?
