Death Albums...
I got the Sound of Perseverance, which I really like, but I'm not sure the order of which to get the other albums. If anyone could give me a hand in deciding, that'd be great.
I'll be much more apt to value your opinions if you provide some reason as to why each album is liked or disliked. Thanks in advance...

Well, get Human next, as it's sort of a transition album between TSOP and early Death's sound.
Then you can go from there. You know, Leprosy, Scream Bloody Gore, etc.

1. Human. Many agree that on this album Death found the right balance between technicality and heaviness. Vox on this are Chuck's best imo.
2. Individual Thought Patterns. absolutely fantastic bass playing, lots of memorable songs like Trapped In A Corner and Jealousy.
3. Spiritual Healing. Doesn't get mentioned as many people favourite but I like getting lost in the riffs..... Nice old school Death, but not too raw.
4. Symbolic. Acutally, you might want this first if you really like tSoP. I didn't like the voice quite as much, but there isn't a single ordinary song. Empty Words is one of my all time favs.
5. Leprosy - Old and raw, but brilliant nevertheless. Forgotten Past is the song with the best solo (well Death songs anyway).
6. Scream Bloody Gore - like leprosy, but a little simpler. Still good though.
Personally i'd just buy all of them at once and make some huge death playlist.

yeah buy all of them at once !!! but if you want to go one-by-one:
symbolic - has perennial quest and without judgement...nuff said !!!
human - their perfect transition from their brutal phase to their technical stage !!! and yes, the best vocals done by chuck are on human \m/
individual thought patterns - weird technical shit going all around, especially on the bass...
leprosy - excellent moshy old-school death metal riffs.
spiritual healing - james murphy and needs no further introduction \m/
scream bloody gore - hmmmm somewhat like a primitive form of leprosy...but even such an "immature" album as this has progressions that even most current-day bands cant match up to !!! \m/

I like Cloaca's list. Incidentally, the first three listed are probably the most notable guitar teamups for Death. Human and Individual Thought Patterns have the strongest band lineups.

I think you should get Symbolic first, to 'lay the bridge' between albums, after that leprocy and human etc... Symbolic is still one of my faves.

Human was the first album I had from Death. It was so good that I used to skip school to listen to it. Empty words website has two song videos available for download. "Lack of Comprehension" is off the "Human" album.
Empty Words - downloads
You can't go wrong with any of the albums. You like one, you'll like them all.

My first death album was TSOP. Ha, and I just realized it's also the only death album I got. I have heard all the albums though, but if and when I get more, in no particular order, I'll be getting Leprosy, human, and Symbolic.

Didn't know you were into Death man....here's my choice:
Symbolic: I think this should be your next pic because it's the closest to TSOP that you'll get, and it wouldn't be so dramatic of a change as to throw you off from Death.
Spritual Healing/Individual Though Patters: I don't have either of these cds, but i used to have them as mp3s. Both brilliant albums (as all Death albums are), and they'd continue your backwards progression in Death history.
Human: Gotta have it....it's a must.
Scream Bloody Gore: I haven't listened to this in a long time.....was never a big fan. But if you love Death, you pretty much gotta have it.....like Slayer fans have Show No Mercy and Metallica fans have Kill 'Em All.

I strongly disagree. Spiritual Healing is perfectly intermediate and is a perfect blend of Death's older and newer sounds. It's also a fantastic album. Also, I would strongly recommend getting Spiritual Healing and then going forward, with Human, Individual Thought Patterns, and then Symbolic. Those three albums are far more mature and technically sufficient than any of Death's earlier, simplistic work. Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy have some good songs, and are worth getting if you find you like the rest of Death's stuff. If you are not into simplistic, old-school death-thrash, you will NOT like either of those albums.
My favorite Death album is Individual Thought Patterns, but I'd still recommend getting Spiritual Healing first just to see which direction you'd prefer heading first, forward or backward.

Oh man, you got their worst album. Pick up Human, ITP and Symbolic post-haste. From there, pick up the early material, just to see how far they've come (still very good album BTW).

i was going to recommend this one for the first-next purchase as well. except i did love the voice. and empty words is one of my favorites as well!!!... "promises, a potentional to hurt is anything real, when forever is to be until, lost inside in the world of empty words! no escaping from those haunting EMPTY WORDS!!! Im a little drunk but i think i got that right.
Walpurgis: id say get symbolic cause its pretty similar to TSOP, IMO. Its nice and melodic too. I really dont know what else to say to convince you, but it is actually my favorite Death album. choose as you will, but symbolic is amazing... IMO.

Get Symbolic next. Then Human. Then Individual Thought Patterns.
Then get the rest in any order you so please. Symbolic is more a mix between their older style and TSOP. Human is fucking great though.
