Snaredrum
How can I make the sound of my snare like the sound of
dying fetus specially grotesque impalement or killing on adrenalin?
i don't get this sound
do I need another snare?
i've the standard snare of a tama rockstar wit a 24 row snare carpet

well what are you looking for a really high 'ping' a nice 'crack' or a lower sound, all can be acheived by using any snare, however some snares sound better than others, I myslef am looking to get me a nice Piccolo snare this chistmas but it depends what you are after.
you might want to tighten up your batter skin a bit and add some dampening, that usually gets a good sound, or if you have more money than sense you can always trigger yuor snare, to get the sound, but I would advise aginst this unless you are a proffesional doing lots of shows etc.

yeah i need a damped sound on my snare very very damped but my batter skin is tighten up very tight. this doesn't work anymore.
the sound of my snare is like a lower sound. but the sound of my snare be drowned out when i play doublebass.
i can give another example... the should sound like the snare on the "burn the priest" album from lamb of god
a friend told me i need a wooden snare carpet but it isn't demp enough.

erm try getting a controll ring from evans (I use lots of them) and tighten up your response head, that can give you a higher sound, apart from that you might need a piccolo snare to get any higher!!!

Staying on topic with getting a certain snare sound... Im trying to get that really resonant and metally sound ALA origin and Gutrot, how would i go about getting that, or would i need some triggers for that?

I have no idea what you guys are talking about by dapening and stuff. But Innards-decay, i would suggest getting a metal snare for a metally sound. I have a crome snare and i dont realy like it. It had that vibrating noise after every time i hit it untill i got a evans controll ring like NZ stated. I got 2 different sized rings for my snare for only $10. I would suggest getting them. Didnt Burn The Priest have that realy fast high pitched snare like Lamb Of Gods stuff? I think he uses a 13x4 snare drum tuned like all the way up. I have a mag. with hes setup so if you want any info on his kit i can tell you.

Thats cool. Im hoping to get a pearl 8 peice EXR kit sometime next year. For getting that sound, maybe try tuning the batter head all the way up and tighten the snares all the way up also. I think having a metal snare will give you a more ringy sound. Well, mine does anyway.

I hope to be getting one as an Xmas present
either that or the new pearl drum throne with the back rest, a Rack would be nice but they are expensive!

I think kevin uses a really high pitched really damped piccolo.
I want this sound too. But I have no money for a good piccolo.
At the moment my snare sounds like this.
http://home.arcor.de/miranda-ftp/snare.mp3
Got it too really high pitched (both heads), both sides with tape damped...
the upper head is an RMV white coated and the downside is a Remo clear.
The snare is the pearl export snare.

i got a pearl piccolo 13x4 100 bucks, sounds good, real high pitched, i bought it thinking that a high pitched sound will be heard better, louder live. i forgot my old science class lessons years ago, high frequency sound waves travel shorter distances, the thing gets drown out easier live, i still use it tho, im hoping they make 13" kevlar heads, kevlar means bullet-proof and louder, but not as crisp<i intend to get the whole kit kevlar heads>
