hi guys. I'm not a drummer, but i'm going to be doing some drum machine stuff for some thrash metal songs i'm working on. problem is, i don't really know what i should be doing!

after looking at tabs and stuff i noticed allot of like, keeping rythm with bass drum and alternating cymbols and snare, and crash cymbols at the end of phrases and stuff, but i know there's got to be more to it.

i was hoping people could give me some advice on different patterns and things for thrash metal that I could play around with.

sit down and listen to the drum parts ONLY of stuff like slayer Kreator etc. that will give you a good idea of what to do.

usually thrash is based around a this kinda beat:

HH X X X X
Sn X X
BD X X

but play around with it, also listen to lots of other drum stuff like say Morbid angel etc. or some of Genes Hoglans work, try to get variation etc. in your material, why don't you post some of the stuff you try and we will critique it and give you pointers.

The old school thrash beat(used by Slayers Dave Lombardo like every 10 seconds):

B: o o o o o o o o
Listen to early Sepultura, Exodus, SLAYER, Kreator as said before for some ideas. Are you looking at doing simple beats or getting fancy.
