just broke my nut...

I just broke the nut on my guitar so the low e string is not fully in the nut. Do I have to buy a new nut or will it work to somehow glue this one back together? Also is it hard to replace it with a new nut and will it cost much to let the music store do it?

you might be able to glue it, if its expensive(it shouldnt, but in iceland i have no clue) then would it really be worth to replace on that POS you have? but on the onther hand if your gonna have that guitar for a long time to come, then id say replace it

Replacing does not cost much but having it done right will cost more. You should be able to just glue it with no noticable damage as long as it didn't shatter. How did you brake it anyway?

But you need files, an good gap gauge, and the know-how to do it right. That stuff cost more than the nut.

Well, I broke it by bending the low e string behind the nut... it's .50 gauge string and a plastic nut so it wasn't a very good idea to do that ehh

So can I just use some good glue to glue it back? it was just a very little piece that broke off and the low e string can almost be in the right place without it but not quite...

I would really just glue it if were mine. It's not like you shattered the nut into 50 pieces.

Since you have to replace the nut anyway it might be a good time to check out the Buzz Feiten Tuning System. I never heard of it before yesterday but I saw a link posted on another thread and it looks pretty interesting.

I guess it gives you perfect intonation all the way down the fret board. Downside is it might be more money then you want to spend.

Sure, try to glue it. If that fails, just take it to a luthier or a local music store if you dont know of any luthiers.
