Eqing a 31 band eq

My friend just gave me a STK 31 band eq and I was wondering if there are any templates to start with? I know frequencies between 100-250 and 10k-12k are good to boost for guitar but thats about it.

31 bands huh? that's a bunch.

theres basic waves for mid boost (like the wave motion) and the upside down wave for mids scooped, I never had a huge ass eq in my rig so I guess you'de have to fiddle about with it for a bit. Ofcourse you know what tone you're looking for, so just mess around and see if you can get what you're looking for.

it's the fun part of new gear

Thanks asshole I would have never guessed to fuck around with it.

Its just that it is 31 bands, thats alot of fucking around, and a place to start would be nice. Maybe I'll just type in random trig equations on my calculator and try them out, hah.

your welcome cumwad

Nah, I'de probably curve the first 9 bands up for a low boost and start out from there, what kinda sound are you looking for? My bet its metal, so you need some low end power, unless you play fagmetal. So boost up that low range a bit and see how you like it.
Don't cut all the mids out (that would be errmmm, eq band 10 till 20 or something) because mids=tone. Unless you want to sound like some nu-metal guitarist, don't cut out the mids.
The highs are the last bunch of bands, obviously. But those are pretty touchy on a huge eq like the one you have, plus they influence the tone a lot, so take your time for those last ones.

maybe that helps. if not, use the calculator.

Yeah I'm very against cutting mids. I play technical death metal mainly so I need clarity for arpeggios and fast runs, I like to hear every note I play.
