I have a Hughes and Kettner Warp 7 2x12 100 watt guitar amp. My mates 80 watt spider 2 1x12 is louder on volume setting 4 than mine on setting 9. The clean channel on my amp seems to be louder than the distorted channel. I have been told that a speaker pin has come loose is this true?
My guitar's (Ibanez RG7321) volume pot is dodgy. When I turn it all the way down after a couple of seconds you can here noise from the amp as if i had turned up the volume. When I do volume swells the signal cuts out or crackles. What could be causing this?
Any help would be grateful.

You should replace the volume pot on your guitar, or at least try some contact spray.

And the difference between 80 watts and 100 watts is hardly noticable, but difference in audible volume can come from settings (more mids?) and from more efficient speakers. Just because your friends amps seems louder, doesn't mean yours is broke.

well if he has one less speaker and less wattage, i think something is either wrong with your amp or you need to eq better...

also, how are your amps positioned? if you raise it up or tilt it back that might help...

Just a dirty volume pot, contact spray should do the job if not replace it.
