Has anyone tried using a xxx with the eurotube mod? I looked up Bob's website and this is what he suggests for the xxx. Any thoughts?

"The vast majority of my XXX customers are going for the JJ E34L's and ECC83S preamp tubes. This combination does sound VERY nice. Crunchy but fat and full. I would use a graded and balanced ECC83S in the phase inverter hole which is the preamp tube that's closest to the power tubes. This will eliminate any dead spots and really make the amp sing."

Also for anyone who owns this amp or has seen it. Can the trucker chick be removed without damaging the amp, as it is kind of gay looking!

I can recommend www.FJAmods.com JerryP does great work. As for the Trucker girls, do you mean the faceplate?? Yes that can be removed then replace with soem diamond plate if you really think its worth it. The chick on the cab can be removed as well.

BLS, I checked out FJA. I was pretty impressed. Imagine modding a 5150 so as to make it a usable 3 channel amp. Again pretty impressive. I didn't see anything about modding 5150 combos... but I guess you could always email him about it.

i think 5150's are just as good as most marshall tube tops... it can compete... but evh's tech has him setup through like 10 different marshall heads, each for it's own color... then the 5150 just looks pretty up front.
i have a picture somewhere, i might post it if i find it.

but there is no comparison in sound between a 5150 and slo... but being 1/3 the price the 5150 isnt bad at all.

I agree with the 5150 sounding nothing like a slo100 but at least its a serious competitor to most marshalls at a good price. (but its no tone machine like the slo is.. but hey, at that price, who'de argue with it that the 5150 is neat.)
