I know some of you may like Joey but I find it a bit of a let down that they chose him. They had to find someone for their American tour but couldn't they just ask another good Norwegian drummer? What are your veiws on this?

He's good enough to play a leg of a tour for Satyricon. He's not writing the music. He's available. I really don't see the problem. You guys go way overboard in hating Slipknot. Bands that suck are easy to ignore.

i agree, he is a kickass drummer.. i've seen a video of a rehearsal, where he was just fucking around, and it was awesome. satyricon's newer stuff like "fuel my hatred" is sounding more and more metalish and less black.

Joey's 29. 30 in April. OK that makes me really sad for knowing that. Yes, I agree that he's the only member of Slipknot with any talent and I'm not really getting at Slipknot. Joey's a good drummer but he's not Frost, Hellhammer or any of that lot. But if he was the only one that was available so be it, we'll just see what happens.

ehh, my info has got to be outdated, i remember that he is the youngest, and he was still an awesome drummer with their first album, and that was back in 97-99, so he wouldve been in his early-mid 20's

What's so good about Joey again? I mean, Ive only heard his work in Slipknot and I mean, he's nowhere near as good as say Derek Roddy or fuckin Sloth. Everyone raves on about his drumming, but you could pick any death band and it would be 10 times better.

As I said, I only have heard his work in Slipknot, so I based my opinion on that.

He's fine. He's overrated because he's a death quality drummer (I'm pretty sure he played in some genuinely extreme acts before Slipknot, but I really don't know; I'm no Slipknot historian) in a pop band, but he's certainly good enough to tour with Satyricon. Is he the drum god he's made out to be? No, but he's more than adequate, as with most of that band. And, like them, in another band, you might even like him.

There's also just the fact that taking a high-profile drummer on tour with you is better for sales than taking Roddy or Sloth. Plus we know he'll have no problem wearing the make up, since he's used to wearing ridiculous costumes as it is.

I think the last drummer who really impressed me with his playing and then floored me with his youth was Capharnaum's Jordan Suecof. In general, I tend to be biased against people who always have 'for their age' tagged onto a compliment. Unfair, true, but I can't help it. Though, if they do turn out to be fantastic, I also can't help but think about how good they'll be when they've matured.

i saw joey jordison and his little murderdolly friends a couple a months back in a club in london. He's a small fucker anyways he's a fairly good drummer but satyricon could have done a lot better. However, i've got that funny feeling satyricon are going to turn into the new cof and sell out completely. I saw them at wacken and i really wasnt impressed, there sound was appaling and their drummer should have been shot although they did sound a lot better wen culto came on. Weird

I have the very same magazine (Total Guitar) and he is indeed a very good guitarist. He used to be a guitar teacher before he joined Slipknot.

I wouldn't say he is a "really" good guitarist but yes he has some talent. I'm afraid I don't see anything different in his style to a lot of other guitarists but that's my opinion. I've known a lot of people that have gone down that teaching path personally and they've turned away with it. If he stuck at it then yeah, that takes some doing.

Of course he's really good - he can sweep at 4112 miles per hour for crying out loud. He has a talent for the guitar on a technical basis; whether he can write good songs using those very same techniques is subjective.

No, you're right, I know absolutely nothing about him . Being serious, I've only heard his work with Slipknot and so what if he did grow up listening to death metal. I can only go by what I've heard and there are a lot of guitarists that I'd rate higher than him. But I'm not gonna go on, if you like him then thats up to you but I don't!

I heard Satyricon's first album over the weekend and what the hell are you on about by saying they were never good ? If they'd of stayed like that then they would have managed to find another drummer in Norway to cover for Frost. Infact, they might not even have toured other countries. I'm waisting my time saying this but I still think they made the wrong choice and I doubt anyone can convince me otherwise.
