Does anyone else here watch this show? I'd like to know your opinions on it. I think it's pretty good but it's got two HUGE problems. Number one, it's run by MTV, so occasionally they'll play some nu-metal crap. The other problem is Jasta is TOO nice and TOO quiet. Live, he's awesome. On the show, he can be boring. I think they should make it more comfortable so the bands can let loose.

Oh, and for those of you who claim it's ALL nu-metal played on the ball, hear this: I will agree they play the more mainstream stuff of the underground, but then again I have seen Suffocation, Morbid Angel, and Hate Eternal videos on there.

I dont think its worth watching for me anymore. they rarely show some good videos, mostly all i see is gay ass metalcore bands that all sound the same.

I didn't vote as I have seen it, don't think it's great and don't think it's horrible. They have played stuff like Morbid Angel and Suffocation (or maybe that was Fuse) but they still bust out the crap every now and then...the original was much better and it's not the same now, especially since now we have the internet and other such resources to get our metal...

Ya, i dont have MTV2. It sounds like uranium, it plays alot of shit but sometimes it has good stuff.

I give the new Headbanger's Ball a little credit, I've seen some King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Voivod, Megadeth, Kreator vidoes etc.

However, Jamie Jasta isn't in a metal band, and the show overall is mainly metalcore.

now, alot of this has to do with the network and what sells now, but come on, once in a while, have a METAL show.

I think Headbangers Ball is better than Uranium. Uranium used to be good but now its mostly nu-metal. I think Headbangers Ball plays alot of better vedios than Uranium. Last one I saw was with Dave Mustane and the new guy from Exodus (forgot name) and they played the Toxic Waltz vedio .

IMO, Headbanger's Ball is giving the opportunity to "mallcore" kids to go and start liking badass bands like Suffocation. I oppose it because then they'll go and burn out the band. Some will hear a few songs, and then buy all their merchandise (i've witnessed this in my town with Children of Bodom). It pisses me off, Death/Thrash metal should stay underground instead of on MTV, the lair of Carson Daly and pop-idols like Usher.

I totally agree with u, the show is alrite playing some metalcore.. but then I have seen alot of fags buying brutal death and playing death songs on guitar at school, pisses me off.. like this one kid named Carlos, I fucking hate him, him and his emo haircut and plays hammer smashed face every time he has a chance to play guitar.. what a fag..

MTV2 should just stay away from death metal, and play more old school thrash and heavy metal.. I havent seen them play Sacred Reich's video "American WAy" and that pisses me off. if they dont play the old schools stuff like Slayer, Exodus, Kreator, Sacred Reich, old "tallica, Death Angel, Sodom, Dark Angel and Usurper.. then fuck it, dont play anything at all.

I think mtv should stay away from metal in general, except hair metal like Motley Crue or Hanoi Rocks. I honestly don't want some fuck that has every HIM merchandise on earth, to start liking Testament, and then buy every Testament merchandise every made. Then other's will see what he/she did, and now it would be the shit to do. Then I'd stop listening to Testament because I want to avoid being asked "What band you like?" and I'd say Testament, and they'd go "Oh! these guys like 'em" and this fuck points at a bunch of other mall, hot topic fucks.

Overall shitty show. Sometimes but rarely they'll show some good video. That Jasta guy annoys the hell out of me how he does the \m/ like every 2 seconds. They show all nu-metal stuff where all the friggin bands sound the same. It just doesn't work out when they play like a Slayer video then right after that they show some hardcore shit.

It just ain't right to have wonderful underground bands on this blasphemous channel of shit. Fuck that show.

I don't think Jasta picks most of the playlist. The network does. In interviews with Ricky Rackman, the original host, he had said one of the main reasons the show was cancelled was that it just came with him being fired. At the time of the cancelation, early '90's, the Ball played just as much Soundgarden and Alice and Chains as they did Slayer, Megadeth, etc.. even though the former had their own "Alternative" show. One week, he answered a letter on air saying he also agrees that they should focus on metal and he doesn't chose the playlist or like every band they play, etc... That just also happened to the the final episode of the original Headbangers Ball.

Its on MTV2 which means its gay. MTV is very much gay. I don't like the show at all. MTV and VH1 always seem to classify TOTAL UTTER RETARDS WITH HOMOEROTIC TENDANCIES (glam rock) with real metal and for that I make a note not to watch either. I don't see it on much anyway. 95% of the time there is always some kind of queer Rap/RnB show.

I watch Uranium occasionally which is on More Music. They have some gay bands on there and nu metal stuff on there which I don't watch. But the rest of the stuff there is good.

Well, i dont post much on here but ive been reading the forums for a year or so. Most of the time the posts are pretty much spot on and I like seeing other peoples' views but people like IRON FART (the fact that you mention the word GAY so many times makes me wonder if you are surpressing something) and quite a few others, look at what you are typing. Are you seriously trying to say that if your favourite band is shown on a "mainstrean" channel then you dismiss them?
I see most of the "newer" posters are trying to validate their position on the forum by flaming anyone who likes something vaguely mainstream.
Even though most of you are about 16, you have to realise that surely its better for these bands to get shown on TV and have a bit of recognition. Programs like this are a great way for bands to reach the "lesser educated" after all its not easy to be in a metal band these days, so quit flaming. At the end of the day its all heavy music and as long as they stay away from corporate shite like Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit then its all good yea?

they did, i think its only temporary though. They got the dude from Skinlab because Steve Souza had shit with the band and didnt show up to a tour.

The occasional "good" video is so rare its not even worth the time you spend watching the bad stuff on there. not to mention that the "good" videos are of bands i dont even like very much, seeing as how i dont exactly love death metal 100% of the time... more like 20% actually.

are you really going to hold on to that statement? some people will like the show, some wont (me) because it doesnt play anything they like. it doesnt make them stupid or wrong. Now i guess if they excessivley bitch about the show with no good reasons...
