im saving up for my next guitar, im starting now coz i plan to get a real good guitar.
i have found one which i wont have to save much up for. it is an ibanez rg2550ex prestige. i can get that for £365 brand new and i was wondering whether its anygood and if its worth the money.
i heard the dimarzio pickups were ok but not great, but neways, what do you lot think about it?
i wanna kno because im thinking of ditching an amp and just saving up for this bitch :P

what's up with everybody asking the same questions all of a sudden
they're great guitars, fast and pretty good for metal if you have a decent amp to combine it with. they play really light and easy, good if you're still in the eternal learning process.
I don't know what dimarzio's it has, not from the top of my head, but I'm really pleased with mine so I think they won't dissapoint you.

I would suggest that a good amp is more important if your current guitar is reasonable

yea, lol, same ere, i found it for £650 in my local guitar shop, thats what made me even keener (is that a word? :S) to get it.
neways, yea, the reason y i get it so cheap is because i have loadsa american relatives and every year, about 3 or 4 of them come over, not all together, just at different times of the year. and i checked with them whether it was ok to bring the guitar over with them and they were all cool about it. so yea, its going cheap on musiciansfriend and so im gonna get it sent to their house and when they come over i will get it. the price one musicians friend translates to around £365 which is an amazingly good deal.
i might get a hard case with it aswell if im getting it and if i have the money

The point is, you wouldn't. You'd just have to go through the first 5 pages of threads here in the Guitar Zone, and you'd find a few threads with information on the subject.
But obviously, you didn't do that. And I wont bother writing anything derogatory/slanderous here. If you've got any brains at all you can guess what I think.

I live in the US and don't know shit about pounds but out of ALL the guitars I've ever played, Jackson, Ibanez, Godin, and Hamer have come out to be my favorites. Not really a big fan of the RGs or less-than-crap trems that come with some of Ibanez's guitars. I'd fear for you if you were to buy a 2000+ model Ibanez.
EDIT: Oh ya, I just remembered. Some of the new Squier models can really fucking play. I prefer cheap shit guitars more than expensive stuff because I like to work on them and don't take too much care of them. If you want a nice cheap guitar though, the new Jagmaster and Bullet are pretty damn good for 100-300 bucks. And go with what he says vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv go used.

That's what shows I suppose. But you're doing one thing alot better than many other people in your situation. Your backing off, admitting that you maybe did something not very clever. For that you have my respect.
Sadly, I've got no idea what guitar you could get in that price range. The only thing I'd say is always keep an eye out for used stuff. Chances are you'll get a big price reduction for a small loss of "newness".
