Hey

I'm looking to get a double bass drum machine to do the drums in my black metal band and I need some advice for which to go with. Also if anyone has a second hand one for sale I'd be interested.

all you need is 2 old tin cans and bash the fuck outa them while recording

that will give you a nice Tr00 drum sound....

as for souble bass drum machines, I don't realy know of any, if I ever needed synthed drums (very rarely I can assure you) then I used a PC program like fruitloops and made a double bass beat in that and then recorded that as a wav file etc. etc.

and used that.

and anyways a live drummer always beats a drum machine.

lol even though I said kick sound, I doubt they would discriminate....

What else can I do when no one around here plays drums ? I would learn myself but where do they go and besides, it would annoy everyone. If you've got any better ideas I'd be interested in hearing them. But at the end of the day I've got the rest of my band, I need some sort of drum kit and if a drum machine is the only way then I'll take it.

I would look harder for a drummer. You could also get one of your friends to take up drums.

That's how I started playing drums, someone needed a drummer and I, just having quit violin, needed an instrument to fill my time and I always wanted to play drums. Find someone who's no longer passionate about their instrument. Slowly introduce him or her to your music by the means of mix CDs, and simply dragging them to your room and giving them a listen. They will sorely want to be in your band after that, but alas, all of the instruments are taken, except drums. After that, don't expect them to buy their shit straight away, because drums are fucking expensive.

I've tried that, well part of it. Most of my friends are already into the music I like but none of them are willing to take up drums. I've always wanted to play the drums but unfortunately there is no way at the moment .

all you need to solve your problems (you said you were playing Black metal right) is just record the sound of a BADLY tuned car, run it through some distortion several times and that will give you a cool 'babababababababBANGbabababaaa" kinda beat!

erm in seriousness though, if you can find a drum machine, use a program like fruity loops or other drum loop software play around until you get the beat you want ad use that for your live performances, all you need is to hook your PC up to the PA and press play,

I don't know if it would need to be badly tuned. It might work with a V12 engine. Actually, it's not a bad idea, but what do you do on stage?

Do you live in a country town or something? Put an ad in a newspaper or something or post ads around the place.
