yeah, from different countries.
according to librariusmetallicus.com, there is another band called slayer from the USA, that formed (and disbanded shortly thereafter) in the 1980's, so one band is "SA" and the real, GOOD slayer is....whatever california is, i dont know much about american geography.

True, but that situation is different in that SA Slayer chose to add the SA (as in San Antonio) when they found out another band had the name 'Slayer.' You'll never see 'Slayer (TX)' and 'Slayer (CA)' because of that, thankfully.
Also, SA Slayer don't suck. They're not Slayer, but they shouldn't be distinguished along the lines of 'good' and 'bad.' Unless you really don't like them.

if only bands could be more original, a good example is mayhem (originally "one true mayhem")

If you combine Watchtower with Slayer, you get San Antonio Slayer. So basically, SA Slayer were more complex than Slayer, and better musicians. They were oriented with more crazy time changes and semi-complex arrangements than Slayer ever were. I still like Slayer better, but that's for reasons of pure nostalgia (and the fact that Slayer and Anthrax were my gateway to the world of underground metal).

well dude its hard when most bands are about death, pain, suffering etc., to come up with an original title, and it's hard to be original to begin with in the first place. opeth's one of the few bands, pioneers for acoustic prog/death metal they are.
bands like the black dahlia murder, very good, but being good doesn't make you original.

I know who they are. I prefer both Slayer (CA) and Watchtower to SA Slayer. Interesting, but not gripping. To me, anyway.

The description wasn't for your benefit, I merely used your post as a jump off point to add additional information to what you already said. That being said, I too prefer both Slayer and Watchtower to SA Slayer.

Understood. Not at the time, maybe, but now anyway. Actually, off the top of my head, I probably couldn't have given even a decent description of their sound. I just remembered liking them enough to think they probably don't deserve to be the bad Slayer. Even if their name invites that.
