Lead tone
How can you get a better lead tone out of the amp you have? My low-end riff tone on my vtm is fine when I saturate the tubes, but the lead tone is thin and weak. I hate to sound like an amateur or something, but is there a pedal for that? I am going to try a chorus to give it a fuller sound, but I cant help but think that will be too cluttered for any real shred stuff,... any help would be appreciated.

No, I mean the neck. The neck sounds better for shredding and has more clarity for soloing. And hes complaining about it being to thin sounding. Neck pickup.

i hate soloing with the bridge pickup..it sounds like ass when you sweep. I like to use the neck pickup because it gives you a nice, smooth tone. The reverb does kick ass. I like to use my wah pedal on some parts when i solo..it sorta gives me a boost.

I find that when I use a wah with my solo, I can play random crap and it will sound decent.
But yeah, neck pos solos sound much better than bridge.

alot of people find the bridge pickup worse for solo-ish stuff, it gets kinda shrill way up high on the tiny strings.... the neck pickup will fatten those notes up and smooth out the highs. warmer sound imo.

Yeah, the neck emg 81 I think? is smoother and has a thicker tone. Peavey VTM is what im using, tube amp, no reverb. I will post how the knobs are set when I get home, im in school now. Vacation this week though.

You might not like it for your rythem, but if you turn up the mids it will bring out the notes and keep it from sounding so thin.I have two different channels on my pre-amp and the lead channel has more mids in it.
