Well to construct an arrpegio simply fret a chord and play one note at a time in any order instead of playing the whole chord. Do this with a prgression you would normally strum. Also the song "The House of the Rising Sun" intro is all arpeggios. Fade to Black has several arpeggiated chords, the list is endless.

thanks man, thrash metal rocks \m/ any ways i got a follow up question does anyone know in the song "spirit Crusher" by Death if the riff that he uses (its the first one right after the bass intro) is an arpeggio or is it too slow? I guess im asking, what is the differenc between just picking notes from a chord and an arpeggio?
thanks

what determines an arpeggio is not speed, it's the fact that you're disecting a chord and playing one note at a time. So yes, it's an arpeggio, Slayer - South of Heaven, Dead Skin Mask intros are also arpeggios.

There isn't one. An arpeggio is made up from the notes of a chord. Like a scale, they're not necessarily played in that order, but that's basically it. It's all in AnubisXY's first post.
You seem to be trying to get at something more specific, though, so let us know what exactly you're asking.

Yeah, I think what i mean is an arpeggio but its like sweep picked? i think. i dunno my friend whos amazing at guitar does them and alex sckolnick does thim in a few testament solos wher it sounds like a barre chord almost but its played really fast. and only one note is played at a time so its not a chord, and it goes in the string order form low string to high string. That was terribly confusing and im tired cuz its like 12:15 but i hope that makes it more clear.
thanks

Yeah, I thought you were talking about sweep picking. There are some good tips in the thread MetalThrashingMad posted the link to as to how to get used to it, and a fair number of examples of arpeggios. Dig through there and see what's useful.
Those are still arpeggio's, though, and everything AnubisXY first said about them are still true. They're just higher than you're used to playing chords and the notes are swept through, and oftentimes various legato techniques are employed. That thread should show some good examples, as would tabs of various solos in which sweep arpeggios are used.
