Pick Slippage......
i just got these new pics there exactly the right thickness and size but the problem is the surface is so smooth sometimes my thumb slides toward the end, is there something i can do to the pick to avoid this? (without changing pick type)

I would suggest, just keep practicing. It will stop with time. Keep a couple in easy reach if your performing just in case. But if its really bugging you, you can use a hole punch and punch a hole through the middle. Takes a strong hole puncher though.

you could try something to ruff it up like sandpaper or change picks
i use the dunlup nylon ones and they have these little raised bumps on them for grippage they never slip on me.
when your playing just stick an extra pick up at your headstock so you can grab it just in case

Yea, dig it up a bit to make for an abrasive surface.

i used to use those, now when i go back to them, i ask myslef how can i play a pick that is so thin and big, i just started using them cause metallica did and dime and every thrash/speed metal band did in the 80's. Sorry i needed to release my feelings about the green tortex

i use to use those dunlop nylon 1.0 pics but they just did n't feel right. The ones im using are green planet wave pics .84 .033", i might try out those tortex ones considering alot of thrash/death metal guitarists use them

I've always used grip-surfaced Jim Dunlop sharkfins. They are a bit fat at the tip though, so I'm switching to flat-faced standard picks. The only thing is that when I play fucking fast I can't get the right interface between the pick and strings - they bend. But if I move to like a 2.0 triangular, I can't feel when I'm touching the string any more. tremolo's easy, but string changes are a bitch without touch sensitivity.
Are you guys playing 7, baritone, semitone flat, standard tune, or lightweight string sets?

I used to use the .88 tortex, but someone gave me a derlin .96 500 standard. they are so nice, smaller than the .88 and really smooth round the edges. the colour isn't very metal though (bright pink) - I had a look to see who uses them - quite funny:

i use plectro's thick smooth jazz (the white one), they are pretty good, like a large polo (its a round sweet with a hole in the middle for those people that live in a place other than england!)
i used to use the green tortex but just bought one of these randomly one day and they are awesome.
not only are they round and have a hole in the middle, the thickness is gradiented, i.e. one edge of the pick is slimmer than the other which is an adavantage over normal picks.

I lust drill a few little holes in my picks and I get no more slippage. Plus I use Dunlop Gator grip picks too. The dark purple ones. I don't remember what size they are because I just know them by color now I've used them for so long. I think they are .96 or something.

i tried the hole punch idea on my dunlop tortex 1.14's, i punched 3 holes in each, the grip is amazing, drastically improved in my opinion.

I must have about 20 different picks, ranging from thick 3mm triangles to .48mm, sharp and rounded. I recently found an incredibly good one that never slips.
George Dennis 1.3mm Sharp Pick.
It has special patented (lol) grips to prevent slippage.

That shit works great doesn't it? I drill lots of little holes in mine and try not to lose them if I can manage. Some pickes I've had for years.

Give him at least a beer for the trip back before you throw a hand full of picks in his face at your front door.
