Sorry i'm new to this, but how can i get the classic entombed sound, dirty deep and crunchin. I have a little Marshall amp and a Metal zone MT-2 but it ain't that low end. I may invest!!!

Crank Mids, and lows, and Mid Frew, and highs and tune down to B or Bb/A

Mids should be around 1 or 2 o clock
Mid Freq Maxed
Lows about 8/10ths
and Highs about 9/10ths

OR YOU COULD GET A MESA BOOGIE DUAL RECTO OR TRIPLE also Line 6 Flextone's are capable of reproducing that tone and are way cheaper. Good luck

I just came across this old thread and just wanted to say nearly all Swedish old school Death Metal bands used the Boss HM-2 pedal (I think that's the name.) It's the Heavy Metal pedal which was discontinued.
Also, on the Entombed debut CD inlay, the guitarist says they used Peavey amps and set everything to max. (Don't know whether they used the pedal or the amp here)
On "Wolverine Blues" I think they set the mids to max, turned down the lows and I'm guessing the highs were set 5/10.
I'm currently trying to find that sound on my Marshall.

not to piss anyone off and i am not taking sides or anything but it would have to be a gear question because getting his guitar by itself to sound like entombed would take quite a bit of skill. No matter what, his guitar is going to sound exactly the same, metal strings vibrating at a specific frequency coupled with the guitar's wood resonance. I am going out on a limb here maybe but i am going to assume he is using an electric guitar plugged into a small marshall amp like he said. Now that we have the ability to use the magnetic coils in the pickup to create electric current from the string vibration and turn it into a signal to send somewhere else, it is much easier to achieve the sound he is looking for. If it was plugged into some gear, be it an amp or effects or a combination of both (probably the case) then he may get his guitar to sound like them. Therefore it is in fact a question of gear no matter how you look at it.
