You can tune that low on a floyd. Just need thicker strings and adjust the springs in the back.

Well, first of all, you don't have to tune down low to be heavy. The heaviest songs I have ever heard have been in standard or flat tuning. Second, I tune down low on one of my Jacksons all the time for cover songs, and it sounds as sweet as can be.

I don't know about needing thicker strings, but like cannibalcorpse said, you may have to adjust some stuff to get the right sound without any buzz.

Well, he has 9s on there now and those will get too floppy tuned down just to Eb or D. I'd suggest 11s for C.

wow, you just posted four times, instead of doing that you could just edit your other posts

If you are using 9's and are going to put on 11's I think you have to adjust your truss rod also to not fuck up the neck.

EDIT: five not four times, I must have counted wrong

11s in standard would be pretty damn tight and I dont think theres much you could do to make it reasonable besides simply tuning lower because thats what thicker strings are for, tuning lower. If your just going to be in standard, use 9s or maybe 10s

I thank you for helping man. would u know anything about messing around with the truss rod like ManOwaR was saying > "If you are using 9's and are going to put on 11's I think you have to adjust your truss rod also to not fuck up the neck. " ???

Don't try fucking with your truss rod man....you will only fuck it up if you don't know what you are doing. Take it to a Prof. or someone who knows.

no no no, not mess with the truss rod, adjust it if you mess with it and dont know what you're doing you could ruin the neck. Talk to someone like BLS, Soulinsane or Def about that because I dont know that much about it.

EDIT: or like philkilla says, it would be best to just take it to a pro

I must agree with demon here. By tuning your guitar down so low that the strings hang off of the fretboard, you're not going to sound heavy at all. You'll just end up sounding like Korn or something.

Not all bands that tune down are shitty.....just the majority of them. I made the mistake of tuning down for a while, so I had to catch up to speed on a regular guitar. The tuning down helped me though cus now I have a better feel for how to get a great tuning and keep everything tight. Korn only tunes to A...but their tone is ok. I'd say Origin has one of the best tones for B tuning....that shit is heavy.

I tuned my ltd into e with 11's and it doesnt seem to be a problem, but it does raise the floyd rose, quite a bit. I usually play in D anyways, 11's are perfect for D.

I have 9's on mine and I'd like to play in D tuning. How do you adjust the springs in the back so that your strings aren't touchin the fretboard?

Yo udont Have to adjust the treuus rod with a floyd just loosen the tension strings on the back of the guiter under the backplate.
You might have to experiment to fingd the right adjustment, but when you do itll stay intune FOREVER.(If you lock the nut)

really? i thought something like .10-.52 would be perfect for D, especially when playing faster (trash or something)
