I saw Psycroptic yesterday. It was fucking amazing!!!! Now i'm listening to their CD "the scepter of the ancients" and my jaw drops again.
The vocals are fucking insane.
Nihilist, you were correct: Really nice guys. But i just could talk to the singer, although it wasn't Matthew Chalk. But he was still quite surprised as i mentionned you.
And the beer was far to tasty. It was like a river right into my mouth. I think i'm still drunk and it's about 10h since the last beer. But the river will start again in 7h. Weekends are really hard at the moment.

Hahaha cool! Yeah, the singer was Jason Peppiatt. He looks a bit intimidating but he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Glad you enjoyed them live. I'm sure he was surprised. What did he say?
John, you should go upto him and mention the name "Jarrod" to him as well. He'll be fucking freaking out by then.

His "hair" is cool!!! Looks interesting when he headbangs.
Everytime someone from Psycroptic went by he mentionned that i know Jarrod. That was quite funny.
Can't really remember what we talked about, i was fucking drunk. But i remember i smashed him a lot of compliments into his face. Well, they deserve it, fucking string-monsters!!!! And we talked about beer.

Yeah, he would have been quite drunk as well I suspect. Always is! Dave (drums) was a bit paranoid because Jason influences Joe (guitars) to drink a lot. And when Joe drinks, he drinks. He can't play drunk.
I've only heard Jason do vocals for Psycroptic once - that was back in 2001. I would have loved to see him do the new stuff. Was he, by any chance, wearing a Brodequin shirt? I lent him one for the tour, haha. He only has a Deeds of Flesh hoodie/shirt, wanted something else to wear apparently..
His hair is a different story. It was once very long. But of course, alcohol came into play. Decided it'd be fun to shave it off. Tsk tsk.

I think Joe wasn't drunk. It sounded all great, the older songs better than on CD. Haven't listened to the new CD before. Now i know the new songs, but it's nearly impossible to sound like Matthew.
Jason didn't wear any shirt. That's cool that he has just one band-shirt. Me, too. Since yesterday. I have had to buy a Psycroptic-shirt.
"Drunken ideas" are dangerous and this decision was harsh!!!
BTW in which band does Jason play? I dicovered just today, that he wasn't the real singer of Psycroptic. And another question: How old are these guys? They seem to be very young, just about 20-23.

about the white metal thread that got closed, its a stupid term used for christian metal, but its also used to describe opera metal type stuff, i dont know how to describe it. kinda like power metal, but not really. bands like Evergrey, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil.

andrew fucking relax will you. kvlt is the l33t way 2 spell cult. and argh, curse you, i had the best RTT title.
blood duster was fucking amazing yesterday. they played all their hits (pornstore, sixsixsixteen, DFF, donna) and a whole bunch of other favourites.
best bit was when i went surfing and got my feet caught in tonys mic lead. but he was cool about it. demonium and bowel mouth also kicked plenty of arse, but embodied was probably the best opening act. abrasion, main support, lacked something and they just needed to pack up and go home to bed. oh yeah and embodied went 40 minutes over their set time.
my mate didnt come cos he had to babysit his bro, and since they didnt update their site, i rocked up to the place two hours early, but in metal this stuff doesnt matter. BLOOD DUSTER!!!

I had a busy week with England playing and two friends' birthday bashes to attend. This ties in nicely to refute the 'weekend drunk' tag!
Nihilist: I think Psycroptic have already played the UK unless I'm getting the dates mixed up. I couldn't see them because they played Bradford - outside of my reachable radius unfortunately. What the fuck is in Bradford! Grrrr! Next time they tour here I'll probably be driving so I'll catch them then wherever they play.

"Drunken ideas" are dangerous and this decision was harsh!!!
BTW in which band does Jason play? I dicovered just today, that he wasn't the real singer of Psycroptic. And another question: How old are these guys? They seem to be very young, just about 20-23.
|
Jason plays in a band called "Born Headless". He does guitars in that, funnily enough. They sound like Dying Fetus - very cool.
Yeah, they are all pretty young. I think Dave & Matt are the oldest. 24. Joe is about 20, Jason is 21.

John: Damn! Their next tour will be around next year anyways, with some grrrrrreat bands. Cephalic Carnage being one!
And also, I seen andrewc post about Blood Duster somewhere in here. I think. I was meant to be at that, because I'm going over for the IHR gigs with some friends. But I didn't make it. My friend was there though. If you seen a little Asian girl with a FID shirt with a phone to her ear constantly, that was her.

Fuck! I've got to go to that, no question. If you could influence them to influence the promotors to arrange to play Manchester or Liverpool I would be forever in debt to you!

I really like Heretic too, but it seems not too many people were willing to give it a chance, especially the music press.

I say them live last spring, they were no Suffo though. I have never even heard heretic. The only other I have heard is Domination, and I didn't think it was anything special. Those noise tracks really get annoying. Makes me wanna make a copy of the album without those tracks.

I don't think I've met a Morbid Angel album I didn't like. I actually haven't heard much off Heretic, though. I don't know why. I vary as to which is my favorite.

It's fast again (they seem to alternate on a record to record basis), with poor production, and Steve's voice isn't very good. But it has its moments. Some very good riffs, interesting solos, incredible drumming, etc. It lacks the focus they usually have, mostly because it's Trey being free to do literally everything, so it's all over the place, but it's still good. I also believe it's the one with the immortal thanks section in which Trey thanks Chun Li.
Correction: he thanks Chun Li on Domination.

It's underproduced. Not like early Suffocation bad, but much more obscured than almost the rest of the MA catalogue.

I like both songs as well. Summoning Redemption is much more 'Morbid Angel' sounding, though. Where the Slime Live almost feels like it isn't them; even among their slow songs it's an exception. Unsurprisingly, it has the least indicative of Trey's solos as well; but neither the solo nor the song suffer for being the outsiders in their respective catalogues.
