this is probably a dumb question; soloing?
can arpeggios be used for soloing like playing the nots of the chord in different orders and what not?
and how would you keep you solos in the right key?, like you would just have to figure out what chords they other guitar is using right

arpegios can be used very effectively if you know how.
they are virtually nessasary(spelling?) wih sweeping.
and no. different chord arpegios can be used over the same backing chord.
for example Em to D arpeggios will fit over an eminor backing its all to do with music theory. blah.
read official scales and sweeps thread.

solo in key
yes u can use those notes,if the cord ia F,you use the F note as your home base, use the rest of the notes in the cord in any order you wish, and if you are changing from an F chord to an E chord you you could apply passing note therory buy selecting the E flat note to make a smooth transition to the F cord

He asked how to spell it. I also find sweep picking necessary when playing arpeggios in solos. Damn I love sweeps!

Very true. For years I was envious to the point of turning green of people who could sweep. Then one day I could suddenly do it over three strings. After a while it was four, then five and eventually six strings. Now people are envious of me so it's been quite the turnaround.

Sweep picking sounds good when you can do it right, but when I do a sweep downward, I have a major problem making it smooth.

Sweeping is all about the left hand. If you can do it left-hand only, right hand simply needs to follow.

For question #1, Yes
For #2, To keep in the key, use a scale. Use the scale of the same name as the key. Playing in the key of A minor? Then use the A minor scale. If you want to get further into solo'ing over chords you should do some research on chord tones and non-chord tones.
