Line 6 Pod XT?
Hey guys, I need a versatile little effects unit for practising at home, and I found the Line 6 Pod XT - my question is, can you achieve death/black metal sounds from it? (e.g Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Immortal) Because i've heard that its shit for playing thta style of music.

you might look at the new behringer vamp 2. it's suppose to give the pod(standard) a run for it's money, but i personally think it falls a little short.
the pod xt is like a dream when set up properly and used with a nice poweramp and cab. but even for running straight to the board it's speaker emulating outs and stuff work pretty well methinks.
there is aslo the boss gt-6....

you could probably use something like the digitech valve fx i'm selling .
loads of fx and shit... really good ones too... it also has a few distortion modelers... i can get some pretty heavy tones out of it.
it's a one space unit... i think the tube is a sovtek 12ax7, it can be controlled via midi or the digitech control one thingy.
it's also got a noise gate(this unit is insanely quiet), parametric eq, and tuner.
beats the shit out of those little pr and gnx pedalboard thingy's imo.
good unit, i just don't have any use for it currently... it's been my backup rack(teamed up with an art sla-1 poweramp in a 2 space rack, which i am also willing to sell if you want a neato lil' package).
$150+ shipping.
(end of spam)

Does it double as a preamp XDX?

yep... it's a preamp/fx unit.... which is one reason i don't like to use it in my rig as an fx unit only, it colors my jmp-1's tone to much. but as a stand alone unit i like it just fine.

I have the pod xt, and it works great for metal or any other sound you are trying to achieve. It still doesn't beat good ole' tubes though.
