Hey!!
Do you guys know a way to get rid of horrible inlays on the neck?
I have a kirk hammet guitar and i think the skulls are so geekie.
Maby (if i can't take them away) there is a way to like paint it or something.

Something my friend did was... he carved into the fret board so there would be a type of arch going in wards.... it might work... its a little harder to play but it worked for him... might be risky

you meen he scalloped the fretboard???
theres only two ways to get rid of them
1-get a new neck
2-de-fret the guitar, somehow get the inlays out. fill in the holes-sand it then iether leave in without the inlays or carve and put new ones in....
id go with option 1, actually i would just leave em they may look kinda "geekie" but howmany guitars do you see with skull and bone inlayes?

I don't like this thread, I don't care about the fretboard designs, even if they said "IM GAY" on the fret.

I think I saw a guitar that had "I'm Gay" inlays. It was a Mick 7 guitar.

here.
Step by step.
1. Go to The Home Depot
2. Get a bucket of paint and a drill
3. Take the drill and drill into the fretboard over the inlays
4. Once the inlays are drilled, pour the bucket of paint over the neck.
5. Once the paint has dried, throw the neck away.
6. Buy new neck.
7. Repeat.

You would just fuck up your guitar, the only way to remove them is by removing the fretboard.. it isent worth it.

Okay, I suppose the first thing you have to ask yourself is, "why the fuck did I buy this fucking guitar if I don't like the fucking inlays," and the second question would be, "why the fuck am I asking stupid fucking questions about how to get the inlays out of the neck to people who don't have a care in the world about my problems?" Honestly, are you stupid?

dude if its a neckthru fuck it, its gonna be way to much trouble than you probably want, all i have to say is just deal with it and stop crying, I dont think the inlays are gonna affect your playing/learning abilities, i would worry more about how it plays then out it looks, i would play a pice of shit and stick with strings on it, if it was the best guitar ive ever played.

The sharpie thing might work... It may look stupid up close, but on stage i bet no one would notice seeing as its nearly impossible to tell the difference between black and metallic black when looking at someones on stage.

Sharpie markers do work very well on little chips. I used one on my Ibanez and it can only be seen once you get within 6" of the spot and are looking for it.

to my one Carvin, i just got a round file, and scalloped the whole thing, and it got rid of the dots. Thats the only way you can get rid of them.
It would probably be easier for you just to go out, and sell the one you have and buy a Carvin.

I'd live with it. It's not a bad guitar to have and if it plays ok why worry about some inlay markers? Anything you do to hide them could end up looking shit and reduce the value if you were to sell. If it still bugs you, save up some cash and trade it in for a guitar with fret markers you like.
I'm sure there're people who visit this forum who wished the only guitar problem they had was geeky skull markers!

If it bothers you that much sell it & buy something more to your tastes. Im sure there is some Metallica fan out there with his finger nails nicley manicured & painted like Kirks that will buy it. Try Ebay.
