Guitar song with not to hard solo, not metal!
Okay so our music teacher at school thinks im good at guitar so he wants me to play a song at christmas show, it has to be fairly well known and include a solo. He said i could just rock up Rudolf the Rednosed Raindeer or something but im not sure about that.
Could you hook me up with something not too hard? Keep in mind no ultra gorgasmic black metal, death metal, thrash whatever. Something light..
And the solo cant bee too hard either, im not very good at soloing, but i might just need to practice it.
KEEP IT COMING.

How 'bout something from Guns n' roses? They are well know to a broad audience, and have good solos (some easy, some not)
Sweet child o' mine <- classic

I actually kinda like that song but the solo is still out of my league.

Smells Like Teen Spirit
I'd probably go for something easy by Guns 'N' Roses. What about some of their accoustic stuff like Patience?
Or what about Paranoid by Black Sabbath. Easy as all fuck and probably one of the most well-known rock/metal songs in history.

well if its for christmas you can always do a chord version of carol of the bells with a little wild improv soloing. my band did that for christmas last year. if you want a response i'd go with some smoke on the water, paranoid/iron man, or some zep, maybe heartbreaker or one of the other big radio zep songs. that will most likely score you the most points with your audience.

Play Iron man only if the crowd is a bunch of non metallers. We all might be sick of that song, but a regular person would love it. Or do Mr. Brownstone by Guns'n' Roses. Oh, shit you said christmas, then you MUST play The Iron man Christmas Parody that that guy ? did. I can't recall his name right now.....:damn.

If you're a good guitarist, but there are still alot of things that are out of your league, try taking a well known christmas song and converting it to your own standards. For example:
Silent Night = Classical choir sung Christmas song
With a little re-arrangement, you should be able to have a main bass, tenor, and treble line being plucked at the same time on your electrical or classical guitar (whichever your choice, of course), and there you have it:
Silent Night = Classical guitar arrangement by 'Slabbefusk, Satan's Angel of Death'!
I've done this before and had great results, so if you arrange and play the song well, then you most likely will too.

You're sick of Iron Man? Woah.
Most of the Sabbath suggested would be fine. People like it when you play Enter Sandman, as well, though I don't know if that solo's too hard, or just impractical due to the wah. I think it's a fairly easy solo if you sit down to it, though; very repetitive with nothing tricky. Guns n' Roses are pretty good as well.

What about Greensleaves? You could spice it up a little bit, and it's a good solo to learn if you're just learning to play solos.

Just to match the whole Christmas theme... play "Scars of the Crucifix" by Deicide. :P Just play the version that doesn't have the solo, it seems quite complicated. You might nail it if you start practicing soon and practice the song vigoriously every day...
Just kidding... how could someone play a Deicide song at an X-mas show? :P
Maybe some of the easier Pearl Jam songs... Nirvana songs are also relatively easy.

Yeahh!!You could start playing something soft and mellow then just start blasting some Deicide! Mwahahaha that would be great But some King Diamond christmas songs would be pretty funny.

I was going to say something like that.
So are you playing this just by yourself? And doesnt it have to be a christmas song?

Im sick of iron man....
Also, for solos you can simplify them, you can take a zepelin song and slow the speedy parts down a whole lot, somehting like that. And black sabbath works for "normal people".
