Wow, just Got this and it kicks arse.
almost any sound i want (distortion wise)
its Got shitty lead tones thouGh and looks uGly but other than that,
wow.
any thauGhts?

some line 6 stuff ain't bad. I mean its digital but for home practise, no problem. don't know a lot of their models, the vetta head and the spider combo's, thats it

havent played one yet... but i'm sure it'll be another generic metalzone/metalmaster/deathmetal type pedal... fuzzy thin tone, natural dark scooped tone, brittle mids, and muddy lows... just like the rest... just my predictions.
but i'm definately going to try one as soon as i run across one. then i can accurately talk shit  .
btw, they really are fucking ugly.

pfft... the name is silly (über metal?!), and it indeed looks silly.
And I don't like the idea the designers made, that you instead of having a mid control, you have a scoop control that turns DOWN mid when turned up. As if a scooped tone is better 
But indeed, I have to play it myself to realy know.

they ripped it off of the rocktron gainiac preamp.... a reverse mid control called the "scoop knob"

never played on it,but from the sound clips and the video on musicians friend, it seems to suk.i like my amp because it has a scoop button.you have a mid controll but you can still scoop them to i guess a presset amnt.i like pushing the scoop button and diming the mids.

i love the mids, its really helps my guitar cut through(im not a volume nut either).honestly i love the scooped sound too, really tightens everything up.usually i practice scooped and gig with lots of mids

i used to scoop alot, but now i have dimed mids, dimed bass, zero highs and dimed presence... it works well for me.

I think solid state sucks, now through a tube power amp it can be half acceptable for home but I like tube all the way.

you need to play more...
i'd say tech 21 gear more than just competes with alot of top notch tube stuff... in fact, the psa-1 slays tons of tube preamps i've played and owned...
sure if you consider a cheapo crate 15w combo the standard in s.s. tone... but you can't just judge an entire genre of amps because some suck...
that's like if i played a b52 or krank tube top and swore all tube amps suck just because they do.... ignorance and lack of experience.
i still find the majority of amps i like are tube... but i refuse to let anything as silly as a couple S's get in the way of my search for "THE TONE". i prefer to listen to the amp before i worry what the name on it is or what's inside of it.
