I want a synth capable of doing an "ah" effect similar to Emperor's ITNE, or effects similar to Lost Horizon's newest album. Plus a range of other good quality moody effects that doesn't sound like bad 80's keyboards or 16-bit videogames. I want versatility, but not 3543634645 effects I'll never use, and not any learning software or any shit like that. I only want to use it in the background to create some mood.
I would prefer inbuilt effects like reverbs/delays and built in speakers (although not essential, I could plug it into my gnx3's mic input and run it through my guitar amp if needed). I need a 1/4 line out, at least. I would prefer something light.
I want to use it to write music, not perform live. So I can just sit there while I'm playing back my pre-recorded guitar tracks, and mess around with the keyboard.
I've heard a bit about velocity-sensitive keys and touch-sensitive keys. I would be wanting to get velocity sensitive, yes?
It needs to be polyphonic (right?).
What's the minimum price I'm looking to pay for something that can make the sounds I'm looking for? (in USD or AUD I don't care)
http://www.music123.com/Alesis-QS6-2-i20988.music This is one that looks good (and sounds good, great first sample at musiciansfriend), but I was hoping for something cheaper (it's rrp $1899 here, discounted to $1499 in some places. I'm hoping to spend less than $1k.) So is there anything cheaper than that synth, that would give me decent quality moody effects I'm looking for? I can get to the local music shop maybe in a few days, to try some out.
