I'm trying to find out which speaker would work best for low tunings (A# and somtimes lower) but still keep it real tight in the bottom, not have shitty mids and really nice highs. I've been looking at these two Celestions so far:

havent played that century one or whatever, but i don't like the g12t 100's as much as alot of other celestions.

how many speakers are going to be in your rig... i have to reccomen a combo of a vintage 30 and a g12t-75(or two of each in a criss cross pattern in a 4x12)...

also, i'm a huge fan of the mesa black shadows....

That is a good idea to mix and match speakers...thanks. I'm still trying to decide on an amp, but it will definitely be a 4x12 cab no matter what.

I don't know if you have ever heard of the Rivera Los Lobottom cabs...but they were designed to handle just the bass...(don't they have other cabs out there for that though?) and leave the mids and highs to the 4x12. Apparently they were discontinued though...fuck.

I have always thought that would be a good idea. Here I am getting ahead of myself dammit. Gimme your opinion xdislexicx.

those rivera cabs kick ass... they have a built in power section, and it's used as a sub system to handle you lows, makes them tight and beefy.
with a good 4x12 you probably wont need em' anyways. both of my 4x12's have dual bass ports... each cab is like two gensbenz 2x12's together... hard to explain, but i need no help in the low end department.

maybe if you were using an old school marshall 4x10 cab or a cab with greenbacks(or other similar trebly speakers) then you might need to low end assistance... but if you get the 2 vintage 30's + 2 g12t-75's in a decent quality 4x12 cab, you should have no problems getting good lows.

i've used my cabs for bass before(with a bass head of course), it sounded pretty good methinks... even at loud levels.

i have .012's or(i switch em up alot) .013's on my guitars... i tune d standard usually, sometimes i go to C.

personally i say if you tune lower than C you should get a baritone or 7 string..
because most guitars don't handle it that well.

I've been using low tunings for years now....like B and A# most of all. Sometimes C. Even down to G sometimes too...so its best to find the right gear for that shit so it doesn't sound to much like slop...lol
