jacko KVX10 vs BCRich Ironbird
ok so my budget is £300 and after thinking long and hard ive decided not to get an axe with a floyd seeing as i do like to downtune quite a lot, and arsing around with the bridge is not something i want to do. So. looking at hardtails ive got down to the Jackson KVX10 (£300) and the BC Rich platinum ironbird (£270ish)
ive heard bc riches below the NJs are not very good. theres a £30 difference in it here, is it really worth it or not...
im obviously going to play both guitars in some shops first but id like to know thy opinions...
cheers

i have never played the ironbird but i do own the kvx10. i would say go with that. im not sure what you play but the neck is very thin so its easy to do solos on it, great accsess to all 24 frets. to me the "V" is the most cofortable guitar to play and when your standing up you can rest you arm on the top horn. it is however neck heavy so if you let go it will kinda slide down

You should go with the V cus low end Rich's are just total shit. Don't worry about it being neck heavy, because you can always have the strap button moved on the heel joint....(is that right)....right were there neck connects to the body......

Thats right
I would go with the Jackson V as well. They look cool and are built better than B.C. Rich for about the same price.

ok thanks guys-
i also played an ibanez sa160qm which i thought was really nice and costs £250 (not a hardtail, it has a non-locking trem) . how do you think this would compare to the Jackson?

The ibanez isn't bad looking, I don't know how it sounds though. For heavy sounds you would want to replace the bridge pickup of either one anyway. The Ibanez is made with mahogany which usually takes to lower tunings quite well. The Jackson is made with alder, which is what fenders are made with (no coincidence) but don't let that spoil your opinion of alder....it is still a decent sounding wood. All of Jeff Hannemans guitars are alder....and they sound pretty good. Also before you throw down for one of those...look on e-bay for something in or around your price...

Ok, maybe you've heard this before, but the only way to pick a guitar is to TRY SOME OUT. Just go to a guitar store, and try out a few within your price range. Take into account the tone, how they feel, and whether or not they look like they'll last a while (Ibanez's are put together so well).
Just try some out and have a good time, however, it is my opinion that BC Rich's suck.

i played the jackosn kvx10 and i thought it sucked. The neck felt to wide and cheapy for my liking; the sound was also pretty crappy but that can be changed. Anyways i wouldnt go with the ironbird, cos i've played it and it was utter crap, worse than the jackson. If i were u i wouldnt get either of these but i'd look at either an Aria mac series guitar, an ibanez s, sa or rg series guitar and a daisy rock guitar lol anyways search www.ebay.co.uk
