That plan has one fatal flaw: He's relying on the possibility of people paying for entertainment they get over the internet. This move almost guarantees that Vincent will not get killed, I think. I mean, I could kill my own hamster for relatively cheap and get a much more visceral experience than I would if he kills Vincent, if I really wanted to see hamster death. Or I could get a few friends together to split the cost. 1/5 or 1/6 of $4 gets me my own personal dead hamster show with no concern of whether or not my contribution helps my side win.
On the other hand, people are often stupider and more wasteful than I give them credit for.

Well he has put the fate of Vincent in the hands of two different types of poeple now and that appeals to the competitive instinct of people. Before I could only wait to see what happens. True, and that's definitely the thing most likely to get some money going for the dead hamster. Still, people like their amusement free if they get it from the internet, and you'll never get that 'I'm a great person' high you do from contributing to saving an innocent creature that you do if you contribute to killing it for no real reason whatsoever.

I did it. I sent a whole dollar to the Goodbye Vincent fund  My favorite charity.
I don't really care if Vincent gets sent up as long as I now know that I have effectively fucked some hippies day by having them see that vincent has money calling for his demise. That's worth a dollar to me. I feel so dark and cold right now though  I'm sure the guy can use the money too. He is in college and he needs the beer money.
Lets just hope my wife doesn't find out what I've done or I wil not get any for a year! |
