SS Amp and NEW Pups?

I have a Peavey XXL. It sounds ok. However I am using a Jackson with EMGHZ. My question is will a SS amp sound any better with active pups?

Besides new pu's is there anything else that I could use to wring the last little bit of tone out of my amp, i.e. external EQ, etc.

what tone are you going for?

active are what emg does best imo... so i think it would help your sound to upgrade... but that's only if you want the emg sound... active isnt completely superior to passive at all, just in the emg category.

they might sound better, they might not, its all taste. However if you put an 81 in your neck position it might brutalize things a little more.

i'd definetely choose a pair of active emgs over the hz's. Anyways in relation to getting a better tone, try using an eq pedal to shape things a bit more
