another Q from a non-drummer
i saw this guy playing the other day, and he hit the crash then after the did that he kinda faned it with his hand near the bell part of it, what does that do?

cause I have NEVER heard seen or otherwise anyone do that.

well next time I practice (and no one is looking) I will try doing this and see if it dose anythig, it could be that he hit his hand and it hurt....

he might have been trying to do the doppler effect thing...the pitch bends when your hand gets closer to the bell, kind of like the sound a horn makes from a speeding car as its approaching you.

I think you may be talking about when you hit the crash a repeated amount of times to make the sound last a long time. I have no idea what its called though.
