you need to switch pots from 100k to 500k upon an emg installation assuming you have passive pickups now. pots control volume, its whats under the volume knob. its called a potentimeter and is pretty common in electronics... but thats about as much detail as i can get into. if you dont know what a pot is i dont recommend a self installation of emgs

No no no! If you are going to install EMG active pickups you will need 25K (25 kilo OHM ) pots ( short for potentiometer ) for both your volume and tone. Pot is a slag term used by electronic geeks. Potentiometers mostly come in the form of a knob and is a variable resistor that simply works like a valve on a water pipe allowing a measured amount of the signal to pass. On the tone pot a capacitor is used on the pot to attenuate the higher frequencies. The tone pot will redirect all, some, or none of the signal into the capacitor and therefore eliminate the higher frequencies and make the signal more dull and bass like.

Any other questions?

25k bud.

Post do alot more than control volume.

Seems like Soul covered this topic, but if you dont know what a Pot is then I suggest you dont wire your EMG's unless you buy prewired pots and switches from www.GuitarPartsdepot.com

oh, and just why do you want EMG's?

50K for passive, 25K for active.

^ got the active part right.

For Passive any value would work. But the most common are 250k 500k and 1meg
