Sounds like your not acually copying the songs onto the MP3 player. Maybe your simply making shortcuts by accident? If it needs to computer to play them then the songs arent actually on the MP3 player.

Hmmm, it could be that, but I'm sure that I haven't created a shortcut as I just moved the folders to the corresponding folders on the mp3's drive (F on my configuration) by dragging them from the C drive. This isn't creating a shortcut instead of copying the files is it? Surely not.
Besides, the problem has occured in the past but usually after connecting and disconnecting the infernal thing to the computer a few times, the copied files show up. This time it's been over 2 weeks since I put the files on and they still haven't appeared.

the closest thing I could find was this:
How do I transfer music from a CD to my Xclef?
You cannot just drag and drop a track from a CD to your Xclef. Your Xclef does not know how to play the raw audio data that is stored on a CD. In order to transfer the music, you first need to do what is called ripping and encoding. This is a process where you 'rip' the raw audio from the CD and 'encode' it into a digital music file format such as MP3. Currently, Cyclef does not feature integrated ripping and encoding, as there are a number of good, free rippers available. Our personal favorite for ripping and encoding is Audiograbber. We are not affiliated with Audiograbber, we just like the program lot
which basically has nothing to do with your problem since your not just dragging tracks from a cd.
The files play on your computer correct? Thier is NO cd in any of your drives correct??

Correct. The files that I burnt to my computer have also been deleted so I know for certain that they're on the mp3 player, they just don't appear on the menus so that I can select them. Very strange indeed.
I knew I should have saved the extra £50 ($90US) and got the much better iRiver instead...

They're not technically folders - more like sub-directories - but when it's connected to my computer, the sub-directories appear as folders just as in any Windows application.

Metalheads make their musical tastes a part of their identity. Anybody else who does the same reacts the same way. Real punks hate non-punk; huge classical music buffs can't stand modern music; jazzheads will get annoyed if they hear something that doesn't swing; and so on. Of course, the more evolved of any of these - except maybe punks - will start to see the continuity of quality between genres and just dislike bad music, regardless of style, and that's a place to aim for. But I think that's a place beyond metalhead.
Casual music fans have something of the same thing, but I wouldn't say their ability to like a variety of music is predicated on standards of quality so much as the fact that they never got into their music to go through the alembics we have, and can like everything because they don't really like anything.

Credt: Almost everyone I've met at this university are NOT metalheads yet they can all stand to listen to metal. All the Jazz musicians I've met like Messhugah and Slipknot...
update on my roomy....
hahhamy roomate is pouring his heart out to his mother on a cell phone. he's saying shit like "I'm trying to lead a christian life here...," "I don't like the way things are going," I can't see the good side of things if I keep going on here at college," I'll keep on going but I have a hard time talking about it," "happiness doesn't come very easy here," who are you to tell me to be happy," ....
BTW, I was writing these words as he said them...I wonder if I can sabotage his mind and get him to drop out....would that be to mean thing to do, or the right thing to do?

College isn't for everybody. If he really should be focusing on something else but's just there out of a feeling of guilt, you'd only be doing him a service by sabotaging his mind. I'm not entirely sure if you're the person who should be called upon to judge this, though.

We're not discussing my integrity here BTW. He's a fucking retard and he seems to have no idea what he's doing. He's an art design major, and he is not a very good musician. In fact, I believe he's a horrible musician; however that is coming from me, who is being formally taught. My conscience tells me he does not belong here. He told me himself that if he dropped out he would pursue a band career, and he is definately not ready for that.

I wasn't casting any aspursions as to your integrity. It's just hard to decide for somebody else. As you mentioned, he may not belong there, but he's not ready to be in the real world either. Some people have no place in college except for being incompetently equipped for the world outside of it.

Whatever the case, I think he'd be better off in a nice warm bed with his mommy in the room across the house. I have met his mother though, and she a nice lady who seems to give him what he wants so he is not really ready for the "real world yet."

This fucking sucks I spent the entire weekend working on my EVH guitar. It looks awesome but the action is all fucked up. I've done every thing and I think I have to take the floyd (which I just installed on it) off and reinstall it differently. This really sucks because it looks so cool. I'll get pictures posted later.

yea.. just got back from a throwdown,bodom,fear factory,LoG show, it was ok bodom were the only ones interesting to watch, and so were LoG's guitarists, but during fear factory and LoG like hordes of crowd surfers and hardcore kids started doing there thing, and i was up front on the bar, i kept getting molested by some guy behind me, for some reason he thought it was cool to put his crouth near a guys ass and rub it all up against it, cause he did it to like 3 of my freinds and me, so i just elbowed him and it was all good.  |

I've gone through so many stages of being absolutley exclusive of all other people except those who fit the standard for my "current subculture" I gues i grew out of that
When I first got to metaltabs people didn't really like me cuz I am random and have a tendency to like many other types of music. Sure, I love some metal cuz my father raised me on it but that doesn't mean I am going to restrict my tastes to satisfy a crowd of strangers. I like sublime and modest mouse and beck and even frank sinatra. I think having a large spectrum of musical tastes can influence you to combine what you like as an individual and use that to creat something entirely unique.

Pineapplystuff, I know what you mean, but I still cannot stand most other music. It might even be my tastes for classical music but I was raised on classic rock. At no time was I brought up with classical but I grew accustomed to it by way of being in an orchestra, and from orchestra I started listening to strickly metal. Seems as though I'm a unique case...ha.

Go for it. But you are TOTALLY wrong to say that it is easy just because you can play electric bass guitar. Second to the harp, the double bass is statistically the second hardest instrument. If you're thinking about just plucking along you won't get far in the States. America probably has the most competition, especially here in Texas for double bass. And you can't be good by just picking it up, rest assured, you should be professionally taught. Not that I'm trying to discourage you, but if you pick this up, don't think of it as a hobby to toss away once you feel irritated you can't play a certain thing. If you start, I suggest you never stop.

Yeah, cause I headbang while I do, and I can't really "Jump" (haha ) like VanHalen in a dorm room, so I just walk back and forth....haha a couple days ago I was jumping up and down on my bed, with my pants down and my roommate came in when I wasn't looking, hahaha.
