Nile - Ramses Bringer of War
I was just listening to this song and I realised that the intro with the trumpet things is exactly the same as Am I Evil by Diamond Head right down to the last note. And it leads into the song the same way, but instead of a deep roar Diamond Head put in a solo.
Bit of interesting info for all you Nile or DH fans.

Somebody ate our dad, we will throw rocks at him from the sky, and put black ants in his air vents. You will make me so mad that I spurt out black semen into your mouth. I will use a megaphone to tell you I'm angry, then hit the air with a hammer, while standing on snakes. I call the grim reaper to cut open his head and eat his brain like in the film Hannibal, then cut his throat and stab his chest with scorpians.
Oh Kali

Oh Dagon.

Saturn's the best of the suite's. It's also the least coverable. I wonder why that is.
I always smile at two things:
1. The word Jollity.
2. People thinking something Holst wrote was written by a NWOBHM band in the 80's.

If I have, I was unaware. Name a piece or two and I'll either realize I did, in fact, know him, or download the recommended tracks. That's an interesting juxtaposition to Holst, though, who everyone believes to be Germanic or Scandinavian when he's really just a Brit.

Yeah, Holst was born and bred in Britain but his father was Hungarian. The Planets is an awesome piece of music - completely absorbing. Rather like Nile in some respects.

Yeah, imagine that. A full orchestra, playing some piece, and chanting BLACK ... SEEDS ... OF VENGEANCE!!!! That'd be fun, eh?
On a more serious note, it'd be really great to hear a symphonic orchestra covering Nile. I wonder how they'd do the blast beats?

BSoV is a good song, but I do think it is a little annoying in a way. Still, I love Nile.

Since the vocals are probably a part of the composition, I refuse to accept that excuse. Especially since you claim to like Cradle of Filth.

For blastbeats the orchestra could use timpani.

I won't reconsider since you didn't address the reason I rejected it; it's not fair to negate somebody's opinion because they happen to like different bands, so I didn't. I had a valid reason, then I mentioned the fact that Dani Filth is one of the most universally excoriated vocalists in metal. I didn't get in depth about how vocals are another instrument in the composition because you seem to know a fair bit about music, but I'll do it if you want me to. It's cool if you don't like Nile - I'm not a huge fan of them myself, though I appreciate what they do - I just think it goes deeper than the vocals. That's like disliking a band because they distort the guitar.

I'm listening to Black Seeds of Vengeance right now. Sure, the music isn't bad, but I can't help but be annoyed by the constant sound that the singer makes. He is like a bad improvising guitarist that just won't shut up. I'm listening to Unas Slayer of the God's now, and it sounded pretty damn sweet...and then that guy started "singing". Maybe one day I will overlook the singing, or maybe even get to like it. I don't know if this was the answer you were looking for, as it seems impossible to please you, let alone make a point that can't be shut down by you. I mean that in a good way. You are probably the only person on the forum who posts regularely enough, that would give an intellegent answer, rather than "That's because your gay."

BSOV is my least favourite nile album - still good, but the others are significantly better. To me it sounds like 65% of the tracks are amazing and the rest sort of says 'filler'.

Fair enough. I'm just obsessed with the idea of structural unity and have gotten the impression from Nile that they're good enough composers that the music is composed for the specific voices - there are three different ones if I recall correctly - and would be drastically different otherwise. Some vocalists will grow on you if you give them the chance, but, from what I've seen, death metal has one of the hardest times doing so; some people will love it, while to others it will just sound like the vocalist recorded an hour's worth of oral bowel movements.

youre not alone shred, i dont like em either, mainly because of the vocals too, and the guitar is mixed WAY too low in the cds, and the tuning is just absurdly low. Dont kid yourselves, karl could afford to tune to B and sing in a more articulated, midrangey voice.

I think Karl sings that low because that is what's comfortable for him to do naturally. I'm sure in the formative years of his musical career he experimented with various tunings but then settled on drop A because it yielded the most pleasing results to his ears. I couldn't imagine Nile tuning any differently and, more importantly, I wouldn't want them to either.

I don't see what's wrong with Karl's singing, I think his voice gives a nice, agressive feel to the songs, I don't think they'd sound right with CC style vocals or whatever, it just wouldn't fit.

I posted this about nine, maybe ten, million years ago.
Y'all should listen to the whole Planets suite. Holst is great. Particularly good are Mars, Bringer of War (this is the Nile song... did one of you gits say Jupiter?) & Saturn, Bringer of Old Age (this just flat out rules, it has the same kind of grandiose feel to it).

The Planets Suite is amazing but I'd have to say that my favourite parts are Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Very, very good indeed.

Jupiter was only mentioned because somebody, I believe Transient, said it was better than Mars. Saturn's my horse.

No. Vivaldi and Holst is like Slipknot and Devourment - not the same.

on Nile related news, i finally downloaded Karl Sanders "Saurian Medidation" and it's beautiful.
very relaxing and, at the same time, haunting, like most of Nile intros.

People who completely dismiss bands because they don't like their vocal stylings and judge them soley on their vocals are fucking dickheads ...people who do that, but listen to Children of Bodom and don't bash their vocals are fucking grundle-mongering dickheads. Don't worry, this isn't directed at anyone on MetalTabs...that I am aware of...

For the record Unas Slayer of the Gods isn't on Black Seeds of Vengence, it's on In their Darkend Shrines. And if you can't handle Nile's brutality then your a pussy plain and simple.
