Reign in Blood, Seasons in the Abyss, and Divine Intervention tower over everything else they've done, which is a feat considering how good the majority of their catalogue is.

Hell Awaits, Decade of Aggression kicks ass. Seasons in the Abyss and REIGN IN BLOOD! out of order, but what the hell.

It's easy to say Reign in Blood, but my favorite, probably because it was my first, is probably Seasons in the Abyss, even though Reign is probably a much stronger album. I will also mention DOA... *best* *live album* *ever!* (<-lame Simpsons allusion but I had to do it). For some reason I've never liked Divine... that much, it's definatly underrated but I've always been careful not to overrate it.

Seasons and Diabolus tied for first, with Divine in 3rd.
Seasons was my first Slayer album, Diabolus was my second.....and Divine is just fucking cool.

I'd nearly go as far as saying I like Slayer albums in chronological order, sorta like Metallica. But Reign in Blood saves the day.

I agree rib is way overrated. When i saw em live, they played the whole fucking album. I would rathered any other album (well minus undisputed)
Yeah i can't leave out ol' south of heaven
that was one of my first 10 "heavy" cd's.
My mom got it for me for christmas.

seasons and south of heaven are my favorites and diabolus is right up there with them, i know most of you don't like it, but i thought it was great. which is funny because i really didn't like divine intervention when i heard it before, i'll have to pull it out and give it another listen

everything minus diabolus and undisputed (yes, god hates us all had its moments. i got that one for $10, good deal.)
of the big three
1. south of heaven is my favourite
2. reign in blood is the best
3. seasons is my least favourite of the three, but still well loved. this also seems to be the most talked about one.
but divine intervention is my overall favourite cos its the most accessible. ah, so much good work.

ok now i pose this question. it's been on my mind for a while. what is wrong with new slayer in alot your opinions? and i'm actually curious, not trying to be a troll or elicit "because it's just not as good as their old shit". i love diabolus because it has alot more of their sabbath influence and it's heavier than some of their older stuff, then again i like slower more crushing shit in general.. anyway i'm just curious

My fav has to be south of heaven and divine intervention, im not too keen on RIB i agree with some of the comments that people have said its overated, i was hoping someone would. its boring, it hardly has any hooks except reign in blood, postmortem, and angel of death..,
South of heaven was my first slayer album, and i also just love all the tracks on it, amazing solos catchy riffs, and mandatory suicide what a track.
Divine intervention, such a good album, very chunky, amazing drum fills, sex.murder.art what a riff! and the rest its all good, very different from there other stuff, its quite close to GHUA..but Divine intervention is like 10 times better.

1. Reign In Blood
2. Seasons In The Abyss
3. Divine Intervention
It's good to see that Divine Intervention is quite popular around these parts, it's certainly their last great album. Diabolus In Musica and God Hates Us All were OK but nothing special - everything else they've put out pretty much rules the thrash roost in these eyes.

Reign in blood and Divine intervention for me. (killing fields intro, classic)
Although the song 'seasons..' got me into metal in the first place.
The new DVD comes out next week i think, the one where they play the entire 'reign..' album. And maybe a few more songs so that they'll break the magical 30 min mark !

I didn't think there was anything wrong with God Hates Us All. It just doesn't sound like anything Slayer has done in their prime. Its still has its blasphemous, hateful lyrics though and theyre still heavy and shit. So I don't see anything wrong with it.

Personally I think Divine wins hands down. then probably RIB and Diabolus in Musica.
I Don't like GHUA that much. It has a couple of decent songs but most are mediocre. I think alot of the lyrics are shit too.

I liked GHUA not that much to be in a best slayer albums list.. its just not classic enough you know, its got the good tracks though, Threshold, Warzone, Disciple, its got a new vibe to it, but i guess in some way they have stuck to there roots.. in some way..

I've never seen it on either of those albums...
On GHUA, it can be pretty mediocre, the lyrics are, for the most part, lame. But it does have that energy and the relative "catchiness" that first attracted me to the band.

Divine Intervention in my opinion is Slayer at it's finest moment. I just really like the dark tone of that album. Seasons is a good one too, but the guitars just don't have the meaty tone of Divine.

The more i listen to diablous in musica, the crapier it sounds. It sounds like they were all lazy and didn't try their best playing their instruments. Pauls bass drums sound like shit when hes playing fast and the guitars dont sound like slayer

Diabolus is utter crap.
At one stage I also thought Reign In Blood was overrated but not anymore. That's number one for me.
2. Hell Awaits/Haunting The Chapel
3. Show no Mercy
4. South Of Heaven
5. Divine
6. Seasons
7. God hates us all
8. Diabolus
