Is this guitar worth it...
Hi guys,
Up until now Ive been playing the bass guitar but have decided to also start playing the electric guitar. I first wanted to get a BC Rich Platinum series but from what ive read here they really suck. The problem is that I have to find something thats in a similar price range.
A guitar that I found and that is also in my price range is the Jackson Warrior WRXT ( http://www.jacksonguitars.com/gear/...o=WRXT_Warrior#)
Is this thing worth it? Do you guys know of any bad reviews?
Thanks

well I'm not fond of the body shape, nor am I fond of duncan designed pickups and alder bodies.
If you're into the weird shapes then I guess it's kinda cool.
but if you're looking for a nice guitar but you're on a budget, I'de prolly get something used. beginners guitars just suck overall, like all lower series stuff. can't make anything else out of it really. though even the lower end jacksons look cool.

I can live with an alder body, but the pick-ups are the thing to change.

well, i'm not a fan of retarded looking guitars so that definately doesnt score points with me...
duncan design "detonators" arent very good...
the tuners are probably crap..
the bridge/trem is probably really shitty...
the wood it's made out of isnt the best...
i'd say it's one of those guitars you buy used for dirt cheap, put new pickups, tuners, ect... and then when you get a better guitar you keep it as a backup.

hey dude, the other guitarist in my band has that same guitar, and it really is pretty good. It plays pretty well and sounds suprisingly good, although it could do with a pickup change but even then the pickups aint that bad compared to other ducan designeds. The trem aint to bad either, aslong as its set up proply. The only problem i have with it, is that the bodys fairly thick , but i m used to ibanez s series guitars which are super slim. The rosewood fretboard also feels a bit cheap, but other than that it is a good guitar

my friend has sa similiar guitar. it doesn't suck that much . sounds nice and is suited for metal but the neck realy does not turn me on . mordor is right . it's to thick . i mean i played the same day with my sucky squier and a esp ltd m252 . the neck of the jackson was by far the most uncomforable for me. imho you have space there to bend mother fucker. also it has jumbo frets which i dislike . that's why it's best to fell a guitar before you buy it
oh yeah i just forgot. the cable plug on the jackson just came off last week . 7$+20$ for shipping .beat that

Theirs better guitars out their for cheaper.
But alder is NOT bad wood at all.. its great neutral tonewood which can cover many styles of music. The trem isent horrible, but i would replace it sooner or later. And the pickups just blow, get some real duncans.

Yeah, alder is a type of wood which you can play death metal with one night and play blues on it another.

See if you can find yourself a Washburn Dimebag Stealth in your price range. I like the body better, and I think it comes with a proper floyd rose.

The Dime in his price range, I am fairly certain, would not a have a real floyd.

Probably liscenced, and $100 more expensive. I dislike the shape of the Warrior. I like V's, RR's and the one I mentioned much better.

the body shape isn't bad really, suprisingly quite comfy. A warrior is much similar to that of the bc rich stealth, (used by chuck)

I don't know about you all, but I hate those funky shapes. I have a Schecter Avenger and even that annoys me. I would NOT buy that guitar. Duncan Designed pick ups usually blow. I wouldn't buy a guitar with a floating trem unless it was rather expensive and the name was a respectible one (not a problem here). I'm guessing it is about 350. If it were 200, I'd consider it. There are much better deals out there. Ibanez RGs are pretty nice if you like that neck and there are tons of used and lesser known names out there with incredible guitars. I've mentioned this before, and I'll do it again; try and play a Godin SD. I found one with a XL-500 and it was amazing, still is. Only 200 used.

I like the body shape (looks, that is). I haven't played it, but I'm pretty sure I'd prefer it to an RG ro similar, because I just can't get RG-style guitars to hang in a place where I can play them...

sustain.
ok ok, basswood is even worse :
I'm not to fond on alder, if you have the same guitar in mahogany or ash it sounds way richer imo.
that's why I'm getting a mahogany neck thru guitar

Basswood is great wood.
Its not the hardest but it definetly has a nice sound. Thats why its sued on Jems and UV's..
